Escape the bustle of the city in Madrid’s main municipal park. The 160 hectares (400 acres) of Parque Juan Carlos I are host to a wide variety of activities as well a multitude of modern sculptures. Walk through olive groves, rent a bicycle, fly a kite, or hop aboard the tourist train that runs through the park. Children can enjoy a variety of playground areas. Dig into a picnic by the river or at one of the picnic tables. Treat yourself to an ice cream from one of the snack stands. • simply spectacular. is a space immense, with crowd of streets for run, walk, way to go in bike, on skates. Areas with plants, small botanical gardens. With a lake where people fish. With areas for children. It has several entrances with car parks. There are areas for the whole family, with the possibility of going with pets. It is a place to spend a great day surrounded by nature.

  • This Park was opened in 1992. The occasion was to honor Madrid as "cultural capital". Along the way, you can feel in the environment that here something very modern designed. It is also here, as in other cities too, a sense of anticipation, which creates a unique situation for everyone. For me, it was an experience, with very different emotions that are "worth visiting" the sum but. Therefore I can not also expect that my rating may apply to all and sundry. One reason is the tremendous expansion, which makes it necessary to bring a lot of time to capture the beauty of recognizable only in the context. I was very surprised to have suddenly very beautiful views or to discover amazing details. However, there was a small area that was not very well maintained (during my visit). To deal with the great distances, there is free bicycle hire at the entrance. There will be also a small train, where I but not found the "station". Activities are offered at different times through tourist offices. For children, there are many possible. It is hard to describe, because the subjective for everyone here is very important. One thing is sure: with impartiality and much time, each in its own way is can experience wonderful. My photos show just a few impressions. heinzri

  • Huge park with many choices of activities to carry out either with the supplied options (for example, rent of bicycles, areas for children, etc.) or self-employed (large plot of grass to use freely). The free ride with dogs is allowed and there are areas specifically designated for them. Large parking area but in the evenings is complicated because there are many more influx. Do not give the highest rating because to be a big area, there is a shortage of toilets (only 5 areas throughout the Park and quite separate each other). They are not too dirty and are equipped (SOAP, paper...) but the smell is nauseating.

  • Wonderful place. Once you decide to go there, dont miss "Estufa Fria".
  • One of the biggest parks in Madrid. Very beautiful with many lakes and water channels. People go there for walking, running, biking... The best way to get there is reaching "El capricho" or "Campo de las naciones" metro stations No restaurants or bars in the park, only small snacks shops.
  • This is a great place for a cheap day out from the main part of Madrid. The park is full of modern sculptures, gardens and fountains. Take your passport and you can borrow a bike for free.
  • Limpio y cuidado, ideal para paseos, picnics...
  • Huge and clean. A perfect place to jog, I must confess I don't jog but I like to walk a lot even if the tour in the park can easily reach a ten mile trip. You will find several lakes inside the park with ducks and other kinds of waterbirds.
