Parque del Oeste, Madrid

(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Spanning an area of 87 hectares (215 acres), Parque del Oeste is home to a beautiful rose garden. Inhaling the scent of the roses, it is difficult to imagine that this was once the site of a landfill. Thanks to Alberto Aquilera, a 20th-century mayor of Madrid, the public can now enjoy these landscaped grounds and pathways. The park houses the Temple of Debod, a gift from the people of Egypt to the people of Spain, reconstructed in the park in 1968 and rising ephemerally from a pool of water. Other monuments are scattered throughout the area, complementing the harmony of the landscaping.  Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Parque del Oeste by using our Madrid travel itinerary planner.

  • It is another of the lungs of Madrid. Is located in the close by of the ride of the painter Rosales and is worth it penalty walk it by the amount of trees and vegetation that posé. Every year a rose competition is held in the month of June.

  • This is a lovely and rather big park, which serves as a tranquil spot in the noisy streets of Madrid. The main feature of the park is, undoubtedly, the Debod temple, which provides endless photo-ops. ...  more »
  • The Parque del Oeste is located in the western part of the city centre of Madrid, just a few metres from the Royal Palace. The small and very well maintained Park is located behind the park with the Egyptian temple complex and hence away from the tourist crowds. Accordingly, the system also for rest and relaxation is suitable. Beautiful to look at the area is also worth a visit also and thus.

  • Great park very near Madrid center. From there, you can barely ear the capital noise. This park is clean, and there is not so many tourists. Take the most of the view, it is beautiful!
  • Beautiful park! Away from the city so if you're looking for something less touristy than Retiro this is it. Also leads to the Temple of Debod.
  • This is a beautiful park with breath taking views of the city. It has nice winding paths, and just feels natural. It houses El Templo de Debod, a real Egyptian temple in Madrid. It also has a play area for kids. There are nice open areas, great for a picnic or early morning exercise. Finally, there is a cable car that you can get on to take you across to my favorite park in Madrid, Casa de Campo
  • Bonito parque en que puedes relajarte en una soleada tarde, hacer footing, correr en bici o patines y si te apetece visitar el 'Templo de Debod', un autético templo egipicio en pleno Madrid, toda una rareza.
  • Such a peaceful place. Love it.
