#24 of 1,322 in Things to do in Madrid
Palacio De Cristal originally served as a greenhouse for exotic plants, but now houses art exhibits sponsored by the Reina Sofia. Built entirely of iron and glass, it reaches 22 m (72 ft) at its highest. Watch ducks and geese swim in pond next to the structure and walk around the pond to get views of the palace from a distance. • Excellent location in the Retiro park! Great for photos! The entrance is free which is important as well!  more »
  • In the Retiro Park during a stroll, just discovered in the middle of the Park. I had to get in line. Looked at from the outside, around. I'd also had a chance.

  • In the midst of all the nature of the withdrawal, it is impressive to see the Palace. Walking and safe and very well with family, couple and children.

  • Beautiful, quiet, relaxing, and serene place. There is a guard at the entrance who makes sure all the patrons keep quiet which is very welcome. The gardens and pond around the castle have a beautiful assortment of wildlife and walking paths. Turtles are plentiful along with huge ducks and birds. Inside the castle they have cute rocking chairs with books tied to them each containing an assortment of popular stories in multiple languages. On a sunny day this is a perfect place to find inner peace.
  • Probably the most gorgeous place in all Madrid. Must-see! The pond near to it is also fantastic. Lots of turtles swimming in it. So peaceful and relaxing.
  • One of the most beautiful and mesmerizing structures I have ever seen. I was given the advice to go to El Retiro Park while I was in Madrid. Most people mentioned being able to see the boats on the lake in the middle of the park. As I am a runner I always like to explore cities by running them to find cool and beautiful places (usually by accident). This was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It is a free museum and a great way to pass time. There were two exhibits when I was there and one of them was the boat seen hanging. The views were stunning and I would say this is definitely a MUST SEE!
  • I liked it.It's a nice walk to get to it, and I can only imagine how nice the park must be during the spring. I actually did not know that an exhibition was part of it inside. No fee to get in, just wear shoe covering when you go in. Most people were more interested in getting a picture taken inside than the exhibition I think.
  • It is a beautiful place, you can see it from all over the park and being near a lake makes it look like it came out of a fairy tale.
