Palacio de Cibeles, Madrid

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 3,200+ reviews on the web
Palacio de Cibeles was once the headquarters of the Spanish postal service, but since 2007 the striking white building has served as Madrid City Hall. For a small charge, you can climb or take an elevator up to the observatory area for panoramic views of the city. Purchase your tickets at the information desk on the second floor. The rooftop bar is another good spot for taking in the view. Make sure to check if any exhibitions are running during your visit (there usually are). • It is located in Plaza de Cibeles; Banco de España (line 2) metro stop. Also bus lines. Formerly the post then became the Town Hall of Madrid. The must is to go up to the Mirador (€2), on the 8th floor (elevator to the 6th). A 360 ° view is waiting for you. There is a cafeteria...

  • You cannot missed cibeles palace. You can algo go in and enjoy a kind of museum and reading place, it has free wifi and access is free. Also there is a nice terrace with wonderful views of the city.
  • As I was in retirement, did not take much advantage ... but many of the attractions were being renovated, so it wasn't a new rs

  • Expensive and definitely not one of the best terraces of Madrid. I would suggest go up to the observatory and leave the drinks for somewhere else.
  • Un robo total
  • Good place to have a couple of drinks
  • Nice view over La Plaza de Cibeles. The terrace would be basically worth a visit but unfortunately the Service was devastating. The personnel were the unfriendliest people we met during our week in Madrid.
  • Post Office turned City Hall Cultural Centre. Worth going to the 6th floor open air lounge bar for sunset view over Madrid. Music is good, but drinks expensive; small margarita 14 euro and an insipid uninspiring 'Sex on the beach' 12. They must be making a big contribution towards paying off Madrid's huge public debt ! Downstairs on the ground floor in an amazing glass covered courtyard between two buildings, there was a pop-up summer film festival with performances starting at 22.00. Enjoyed seeing the Coen brothers' 'Big Lebowski' again on a big screen after so many years.
