  • The monument to Columbus, has finally found a place giving enhancement to your figure. After being in various locations, I think that it is the most successful and tribute is paid to the descrubidor of America, Cristóbal Colón. A great success of the enclave.

  • Colon square is located away from the city centre. In the middle of the square there is a statue of Columbus. Taking pictures around the square is quite a busy major road so if you think of over the road.

  • Monument to Christopher Columbus, in the midst of the Plaza de Colón traffic. Looks nice with the Torres de Colón as a backdrop. The large adjoining square is the Jardines del Descubrimiento (Gardens of Discovery), also honouring the explorer. At the Calle de Serrano side of the square is a beautiful monumental sculpture by Joaquín Vaquero Turcios, "Monumento al Descubrimiento de América"
  • The statue of Cristóbal Colón is a sculpture of three meters in height, work of Jerónimo Suñol and carved in Carrara marble, which rises on a high pedestal of 14 meters, the Admiral appears dressed in doublet and cloak, and with one hand holding a flag of Castile that rests on a globe, while your other hand is open and outstretched forward, base, Gothic inspiration, features reliefs in its four fronts, which represent scenes related to the discovery of America: Columbus in conversation with the father Diego de Deza, responsible for opening the doors of the Court; the Virgin of Pilar accompanied by two Angels; the three ships that Columbus used for his expedition, La Pinta, La Niña and the Santa María; New Navigator, this time explaining the reasons for his trip to Queen Isabel La Católica; and finally, a man-of-war with a large ball of the world inside where you can read "to Castilla y León new world gave Colon". After the sculptural group are the gardens of discovery and a few meters, emblematic buildings of the city as the national library, the Mint and the National Archaeological Museum

  • This monument, dedicated to Cristóbal Colón, was performed between 1881 and 1885 by the sculptors Jerónimo Suñol and Arturo Mélida, commissioned by the Spanish nobility and as wedding gift to Alfonso XII.

  • I remember the city the most international character that has given our country. Discoverer of the new world. Claimed by many identities, we are left with their historical milestones.
