  • D. Alvaro de Bazán, born in Granada in 1526, was one of the most important figures of the Navy and the Spanish armies. His monument in 1888, on the occasion of the third centenary of his death, national subscription-funded project was inaugurated on December 19, 1891. Made by Mariano Benlliure bronze, shows the Marquis with great naturalism and sobriety. The plinth is also a well-deserved fame sculptor Aniceto Marinas.

  • Clearly my score is not for the sculptural group as it is another more with the classical scheme of the 19th century. My score is for the character that pays homage to one of the great Marine who has given the history. I think it is appropriate to remember the good things that have made our compatriots throughout history. Frankly Benlliure did a great job and the set fits as a ring to the finger in the small square. It seems that it has always been there.

  • This statue is located in the beautiful Plaza de la Villa, and depicts an Admiral/Hero (Alvaro de Bazan) of 1500, which saw no defeats during his long career and was also named a Spanish warship If this review did you like, you can read my other reviews of Madrid (and others) and I'm glad a click on : Is It Useful? Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
