Unleash your inner hipster in this creative countercultural neighborhood. Malasana was at the center of Madrid’s punkish Movida movement after Franco’s death in 1975, and today hosts some of the city’s best alternative venues for shopping and socializing. Browse the vintage shops, sip coffee in a bohemian cafe, pop into an art gallery, or dance in a lively bar. The Plaza Dos de Mayo is a great spot to sit and watch the world go by.
