Fuente de Neptuno, Madrid

(4.3/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Fuente de Neptuno is an iconic marble fountain representing Neptune, god of the sea, holding a trident and coiled snake. Walk around the fountain and view the water spouting from the dolphins and other sea animals pulling his chariot, and appreciate the architecture and culture surrounding the sculpture. Finished in 1786, this statue has been used for several political demonstrations, and is also where the victories of Atlético de Madrid Football Club are celebrated. Tip: You don’t need to worry about catching the statue before sunset; some visitors even prefer the lighting of the fountain after dark. Fuente de Neptuno is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Madrid Edition.

  • Insurance you've seen it on television, it is the place where you come to celebrate when Atletico Madrid win any Cup or League. But that happens to be anecdotal. The place is beautiful, you have a beautiful view at 360 degrees. You have the opposite Starbucks coffee. Rests and tomato or coffee while you admire to your around. You have to cross the street from the Prado Museum and before arriving at the Museum, there are many street stalls where the best souvenirs. There are female fans at the best price.

  • This historic Fountain (18 century) best seen in Madrid. And probably one of the best that generally seen. It is necessary to look at it, is the 2-steps from the Prado Museum. But ... You can only view from a distance, because I have not understood whether it is possible to him officially. But if you are a guest in the hotel "Plaza" with some luck, you will be able to admire a fountain right out your window. It is said that the fountains of Neptune and Cibeles just contemplated by the author (Rodriguez) as paired, so much so that Neptune is the son of the goddess Cibeles, both were initially Prado Boulevard, but then found themselves on the different, though, and the neighboring areas. Another interesting point-Plaza Cibeles used Real Madrid fans for their holidays, and here is the area de Canovas del Castillo, where is the fountain of Neptune is already a fans Club Club Atlético de Madrid. This is an interesting geography.
