Faunia, Madrid

3.1
#1 of 14 in Wildlife in Community of Madrid
Faunia, a botanical garden and zoo covering 14 hectares (35 acres), actually feels smaller and more interactive than a typical zoo. You’ll find all types of animals here, but highlights include an black agouti, several varieties of penguins, and a bat enclosure. Zookeepers give informative talks about manatees, Komodo dragons, and wallabies. Check the official website to see if an event coincides with your visit. The majority of installations are covered, so it’s a comfortable stop on both sunny and rainy days. Faunia is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Madrid Edition.

  • The Park is well taking into account that they are caged animals. There are variety of species and the enclosure this care. You would inside drinks are expensive, but the food and drink or a simple ice cream. Charge €5.50 for parking, which is only used to go to Faunia, also seems excessive to me.

  • Hola amigas / os, I am writing to recommend you visit Faunia, in Madrid, ideal for adults and children, has shadows and places to sit, although most are in the Sun... It has many caves where you can see animals, with a pleasant temperature, available areas for children... Although also fall into the Sun... Highlight the high number of bathrooms and emphasize the null presence of vending of food for animals, except at the box office... It has parking... but you pay... and there is no shade No... or surveillance. In regards to diet, there are machines expededoras of water and chocolate bars. Note the sea lions show, very entertaining and fun, as well as the point of the fish that is spectacular, watching them on the sides and top. I guarantee that you will like both to adults as to children.

  • We went to Faunia and in general we expected something more, we buy the tickets online. Just enter desprendian farm animals are a strong smell, is understood to be animals something smell they give off, but I was feeling of poor hygiene. Visit general estubo well, due to the existing variety in different species, above all the poison well explained and classified to the detail area hundreds of species of the world of insects. What also we liked a lot was the pond where they were monkeys that is les looked very well and at your own pace. Worst of all, was certainly at lunchtime, after queuing for the 3d film that just stayed without glasses to get to us, I do not understand that not tubiesen more because behind our had enough people also and as they approached the 2 headed to the burger and to see people sitting on the terrace took for granted that was open , just far from reality, it was closed and people brought their food prepared, return to the Park to look for something already opened several but all kiosks stayed closed, single-site open for lunch with the consequent tail, being a Thursday August 10 this is incomprehensible, to answer to other clients the address of the Park indicating that it depends on circumstances open or not food places , I repeat that on those dates is not understood, at least could warn on its website where it specifies all food places, but not if you are closed as it was the case, I do not know if the weekend is open most sites. The tables quite dirty and scarce. Another thing that disappointed us was the show of birds and birds of prey, since they were few and the Lord presenting it noticeable with some reluctance. In the afternoon at about 8 that same day one of the bathrooms didn't work, without water and turn another extra Park in search of another. In short, giving everything a sense of come and carelessness. Another detail esque when parking there is a sign with the price but anyone or in any side specified where you have to pay for it, and thought that is then paid at the end and that would have any type Highway checkpoint, but nothing to call the Gong of the machine and waste time leaving.

  • Nice little zoo. More interactive than Madrid Zoo. My kids (4 and 7) enjoyed the sea lion's show, feeding the goats and the ducks. The penguin and tropical forest enclosure are very well designed. I still left feeling sad to see all does animals in small spaces or chained.
  • I took my 2 children there with friends. We all had a great day. Plenty to see. Lovely walks.
  • Instalaciones are good. No entertaining programs. It’s going around without guidance.not a joyful experience. Lots of animals. But no ringmaster!
  • 1st:They had no wifi & we couldnt download our tickets we bought online. 2nd:The sign to the 3D show is horrible.it took me 45min. To Try to find the entrance!! 3rd: there restrooms are not that great. The only animals to see are:a bit of ranch,a bit of aquarium, turtles, a little bit of flamingos, bats, crocodiles a few other animals. I would request that u visit later in the afternoon as it is all outdoors with little places with a.c. Staff is ok,some were jerks some we're nice. Definetly not the nicest park. Im not sure if they treat the sea lions well or any of the other animals. I kinda got an iffy feeling about that. Take your own food & water
  • Best place for kids and parents. Fun way to learn about animal kingdom in this park. Park is not that crowdy as Madrid Zoo but also does not host all animals like Madrid zoo. Love the way animals are kept free here instead of being locked as is seen in most of the zoos. Animals are active; though its bit pricey its worth a visit. Book in advance via internet you will get good discount.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
