  • I love this building as much as the Edificio Espana. I love to see old style classy looking skyscrapers from the 1920's much as you see in New York - as opposed to the horrible glass structures that h...  more »
  • The Gran Via is the street for my taste with more tradition in the capital. Some of the buildings here are most beautiful in Madrid, among them the building of Telefónica. Construction imposing terraces at various heights and crowned by a large tower that is my personally reminds me of a little to the building of the Ghostbusters film. Currently you can visit 4 floors where there are temporary exhibitions and tell you a little about the history of the company and the latest news. A bit of history: With its almost 90 meters high, this was the first skyscraper in the city (we speak of the year 1930). A curious fact from this building became the first telephone call transoceánica between Alfonso XIII and EEUU Calvin Coolidge President.

  • 1920's architecture on a grand scale dominating Gran Via. So whilst doing your shopping pause and look up to admire this 20th century marvel.  more »

  • Great place to see exhibitions. Right now they have an amazing exhibition called "Eyes wide open! 100 years of Leica Photography" which is a must see for those interested in photography.
  • Useful if you need a SIM card for tourists. Staff could be a bit more helpful. Great decor.
  • Free exhibition. 3 different level. Always good to check what they have
  • One of the best cultural destinations in Madrid, right on the corner of Fuencarral and Gran Vía, there are new exhibitions regularly and lots of other events -all for free. Also, find the only permanent Instagrammers exhibit in Madrid, as well as a nice little coffee shop ideal for a short break away from the hustle and bustle of Gran Vía.
  • Decent museum - fun exhibits about modern technology and media. It's free to get in, so excited long lines, especially on weekends.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
