  • We were attracted by the fun exterior of the shop, and our love for books of course, and finally we might be within 1.5 hours. The owner was very friendly and knew our wonderful books to recommend. The Interior is nice, the music matched and knocked the whole picture! Also the offer was very diverse and, to make a long story short, you should actually really go and admire it yourself!

  • Great bookshop! Wide variety of books, both second and first hand. They also offer talks and events every now and then. The people who work there are very friendly and willing to help you find the book you're looking for.
  • This is the most beautiful bookstore, period. It's tiny but it has a huge spirit and heart. There are books in English and Spanish, both old and new, translated and original. Definitely ask the staff for recommendations, they are very nice and will gladly help you. They also have a nice collection of one of a kind copies of a book, like a copy of For Whom the Bells Toll with a signed dedication written by (probably drunken) Hemingway!
  • A quick Google search for bookshops with English language sections in Madrid returned Desperate Literature which was about 10 mins walk from our hotel. Having left our Lonely Planet guidebook back in Manchester (clever, I know!) my girlfriend and I were pretty keen to replace it and get exploring. We were both very impressed with the store, not only did it have a second hand Lonely Planet guidebook for us but the selection of other books on offer was excellent, not to mention the First Editions of notable books (Lolita for example) on display. I ended up picking up a history of Spain too as it was recommended by the store. The lad working that day (Monday 24th October) was friendly, funny and helpful which only adds to my 5 star review. I cannot recommended it enough!
  • First experience to me visiting a cozy lovely bookstore like this one and it wont be the last! the staff is very friendly and gave me a good recommendation based on the type of books i ask for. One of places i'm pretty sure i will come to again ❤️
  • An absolute gem of a bookshop, an amazing selection of books curated by people that appreciate nice editions and great literature, from 5 euro paperbacks to first editions of Naked Lunch it's got something for both the casual browser and the serious collector... Also the staff are delightful, kind people who offer you tea and are happy to have a chat at length when they have time. I will be back!
