The Congress of Spain is a bold but plain, as others have said neoclassical Greek, building like so many other governmental buildings in great democracies. With that said it is well set across from a ...  more »

We are entering a group together with a kind of Institute visit. The visit lasted about an hour. The guide was very good. Every citizen should visit it at least once.

You may reserve tours (just search the internet and you will find all necessary contacts) and Wednesdays you can attend the plenary of the Congress. The Spanish Cortes Palace, located in the square of the courts, was built on the site of the former convent of the Holy Spirit, unemployed by the monks and used as the seat of the Congress between 1834 and 1841. The architect Narciso Pascual y Colomer's work was borne, which ended its work in 1850. Inside you can visit the various rooms in which you develop the parliamentary activity of the Kingdom of Spain, one of the larger watch collections dl country and also the Hall which houses the Constitution of 1978. In the job you can still see the 28 gunshots of the attempted coup of 23 February 1981. Really a visit which I highly recommend. If this opinion there has been useful please crushed IT at the bottom of the text, thanks. Diego

  • Gorgeous building. The lions statues are awesome. In front of it is the Cervantes statue.
  • Roman looking building. Looks great.
  • We were lucky to visit with a guided tour the Spanish parliament. I think its only possible at Saturday mornings every half an hour between 10.30 and 12.30. Just que at the entrance at the left side of the doors they only open when the King brings a visit. Don't forget your ID
  • Gorgeous architecture. You can get Wonderful pictures there and from there to plaza Neptuno.

Where to stay in Madrid

The Spanish capital is known for its array of distinct neighborhoods each with its own appeal. An affordable and easy-to-navigate metro system, which makes it is easy to get around Madrid gives you more flexibility in choosing where to stay. Perhaps the most popular choice is Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city center and one of the main tourist attractions with its numerous shops, affordable hotels, and restaurants. Close by is Gran Via street, one of the city's main arteries, which is also home to a number of hotels. A short walk from here is Plaza España where the city's most iconic landmarks lie, including the Royal Palace and the Teatro Royal. For somthing outside the traditional tourist areas, consider staying in La Latina or Malasaña, two bohemian neighborhoods that offer a wide range of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and lively bars.
