4.1/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web
Founded by a group of artists in 1880 and reorganized during the Movida in 1983, Circulo de Bellas Artes has served as an integral hub of art, education, and culture in Madrid since its inception. The nonprofit arts center houses vast collections of visual art, as well as its own cinema, theater, and radio station. Enjoy foreign and independent films in their original languages, or attend a concert, play, or presentation. The 1926 building, designed by the architect Antonio Palacios, is as emblematic as the art within it. The modern rooftop lounge is a popular place to have a cocktail while enjoying panoramic views of the city--it has a relaxed vibe and plenty of seating. People watchers will enjoy lunch at La Pecera (The Fishbowl), which boasts premium views of the Calle Alcalá through floor-to-ceiling windows. • There are many reasons to make it worth approaching the Círculo de Bellas Artes. The main one is interesting and intense cultural activity that maintains, perhaps some sagging in recent years, but still very worthy of attention, notably by the numerous courses and art cycles, conferences, concerts and movies, not to mention give exhibitions. The building itself, with its magnificent spaces and rooms, is in itself an attraction, complete with spectacular views from the terrace. The cafeteria is an of them more beautiful and pleasant of Madrid, ideal for the gathering quiet. It also offers a daily menu quite adjusted price (about 15 euros) and well resolved. Special attention to the simple but excellent cooked on Wednesday.

  • Aside from the views of a part of Madrid and of being one of the first terraces that fashionable, this is a classic place for gatherings and coffee and also events and interesting activities of the city of madrid. I recommend a visit plant-by-plant.

  • We were on this 8th floor deck just as dusk set and lights came up, which is very pretty. It is just off Grand Via, so the views are very good. The furniture is really cool. The bar is a popular meeti...  read more »
  • One of the best rooftop in Madrid. But now it's getting very crowed to get in. Also you have to pay 4€ to go up.
  • There is nothing worth seeing IN this building, except the spectacular view. From the top you can see all of Madrid. Save some GB on your memory card for the photo ops. There are even shaded lounge chairs to take a break on between photos. Bring your map up there so you can figure out what you are looking at. Wow!
  • One of my favorite places in Madrid. Great terrace view over Madrid, specially Cibeles, edificio de Correos and some other nice buildings in the city center. This place also has a nice bar with affordable prices in drinks. Definitely a must in Madrid.
  • Great view, mildly pricy drinks, busy at sunset
  • For a view over the city you have to go here. While I did not stay for a drink, I can imagine this place is great for a cocktail or other drink during sunset. These drinks will come with a matching price though, and that after having to pay entrance to the terrace already!
