Circulo de Bellas Artes, Madrid

(4.1/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Founded by a group of artists in 1880 and reorganized during the Movida in 1983, Circulo de Bellas Artes has served as an integral hub of art, education, and culture in Madrid since its inception. The nonprofit arts center houses vast collections of visual art, as well as its own cinema, theater, and radio station. Enjoy foreign and independent films in their original languages, or attend a concert, play, or presentation. The 1926 building, designed by the architect Antonio Palacios, is as emblematic as the art within it. The modern rooftop lounge is a popular place to have a cocktail while enjoying panoramic views of the city--it has a relaxed vibe and plenty of seating. People watchers will enjoy lunch at La Pecera (The Fishbowl), which boasts premium views of the Calle Alcalá through floor-to-ceiling windows. • Go in around the side, and then up in the lift to the top, if you are only interested in the view. Restaurant or drinks at the top if you want, or just wander around and enjoy the view.  more »

  • Have never experienced something so forfærligt, the service is bad, total beverage was bad, there was no food even though we had been promised a drill where we should eat dinner but when we come up, you can not eat there and we had to stand in line for an hour to get there up + you can only get up and down with a little lift as all must use in can probably dissemble you nothing at all for it. children either.

  • Go early you won't have to wait. Wonderful view and 4£ charge to go to the 7th floor. Cafe was small and limited option however you don't need to buy anything to look at the view.
  • You must visit! Although you have to pay to get to the roof and the bar itself is overpriced (a Sprite was 4 euros), the spectacular views are entirely worth it. You can overlook the entirety of Madrid and there's no denying that it's pretty extraordinary.
  • Rooftop bar with spectacular views of the city. Cost was 5 euros (during winter) for roof access and for exhibitions in the space. At 55F we were surprised to be comfortable with light jackets. Drinks were fairly priced and they accept cards here. Must see in Madrid.
  • When they don't charge a 20EUR entrance fee, I love this spot. Amazing views of Madrid (sunset!!) and prices aren't as high as you might expect. Normally the fee is 3EUR, but I think on summer nights it jumps to 20 so be careful. Overall an excellent spot.
  • The terrace: probably the most amazing perspective of Madrid. With lounge sofa, in quiet corner (except on week end) they have blanket but you can bring one with you... And why not also a flask, just in case. The rest of the building it is also worth a visit.
