Casa Museo Lope de Vega, Madrid

(4.4/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Take a walk in Lope de Vega's footsteps to see what influenced and inspired his work at Casa Museo Lope de Vega, the author's former home and now a museum dedicated to the "golden age" writer. Opened as a museum in 1935, it was declared a national monument that same year. Run by the Real Academia Espanola, the house features a number of rooms, including a dining room, chapel, kitchen, the writer's bedroom, and his study, among others. Visit the museum to see where Lope de Vega spent 25 years of his life and wrote some of his most well-known works. To access the museum, you must book a guided tour, which is conducted in English, French, or Spanish. • Beautiful place in the heart of Madrid. The visit is guided and very interesting. If you have some time to visit not you will be disappointed, especially if you like the houses of the 17TH. It is necessary to book.

  • If you are in Madrid an obligatory visit. The House is beautifully preserved and guides make a special visit... In addition it was the market of frogs and had great theatrical performances in the courtyard of the same... Visits to the public are at 11.00. Do not leave Madrid without visiting this magical place... You'll love...

  • The House of Lope de Vega was actually his house during the period when he lived in Madrid; by the way is very close to the casa de Cervantes (which is not open to visitors). But the heirs of Lope centuries ago sold it to total strangers and the House changed ownership several times. The furniture is then completely lost and gone home, after a thorough restoration, was riammobiliata with wardrobes, beds and antique furniture. Worth going to if you are interested in understanding the structure of a 17th century house in Madrid, because of Lope there's nothing left. The House has three floors and belongs to the Royal Academy of the language, which arranges tours (among other things) by appointment; to make an appointment just write in a little early a mail to the address that is on the web site of the House and gets promptly answered. For reasons of space groups must be few in number. The Guide, very helpful and knowledgeable.

  • Even if unkown for many people, Félix Lope the Vega was one of the greatest geniouses of the Spanish Literature, together with Cervantes. This house was his last home and is one of Madrid's treasures, since is one of the few places from the XVIth still preserved in the city. Ever after going under a deep restoration, you can still see how a "good house" was in the Madrid of the Hapsburgs. And it's free! The only "but" it can only be seen with a guided tour that you must book in advance, since only 12 people are allowed to visit it at a time and the groups fill up quickly. If not, you can always see the nice and romantic orchard, recreated exactly as it was at the times of Lope.
  • Please must to visit
  • For all writers and poet lovers!
  • Fun way to spend an afternoon if you have a lot of time in Madrid. Not a lot of people, and a very personalized tour.
  • The guided tour is very good. A cozy place and very nice employees, since the guide until the security Lady. It is a very interesting visit and is full of curiosities.
