Basilica de San Miguel, Madrid

(4.7/5 based on 60+ reviews on the web)
Basilica de San Miguel, a mid-18th century Roman Catholic church, serves as both an important architectural site and significant place of worship. A National Artistic Monument, its striking convex facade is rare in Spain and features statues of charity, faith, hope, and fortitude alongside a panel depicting the martyrdom of the children Justo and Pastor. Enter inside to discover the richly decorated interior, home to bright gilding, painted ceilings, wood sculptures, and a large organ. The holy children can be spotted again in a fresco from 1745, this time depicting their apotheosis. • Small church that despite its size is an important contribution to Spanish Baroque style, only in Madrid for the particular side convex shape. To see. If you want to click on '' Thanks Michele R ''

  • St. Michael's Basilica, accidentally found her in the Center, just walked without looking in any guidebooks. Spanish Baroque-style church stands on the site of another ancient monastery or church, which burned down in the 16 century. Construction of the basilica was built by multiple architects. Surprised by the unusual convex façade (as if the rocket rushes up into heaven), crowned by two towers with spires and curved pediment.

  • Lovely Baroque church near the Plaza Mayor, often hosts concerts, collecting and well-lit; I first met a statue of the founder of Opus Dei, St. Erscivà de Balaguer.
