Basilica de San Miguel, Madrid

Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web
Basilica de San Miguel, a mid-18th century Roman Catholic church, serves as both an important architectural site and significant place of worship. A National Artistic Monument, its striking convex facade is rare in Spain and features statues of charity, faith, hope, and fortitude alongside a panel depicting the martyrdom of the children Justo and Pastor. Enter inside to discover the richly decorated interior, home to bright gilding, painted ceilings, wood sculptures, and a large organ. The holy children can be spotted again in a fresco from 1745, this time depicting their apotheosis. • Beautiful church to the convex façade and the graceful interior (dome, frescoes and stucco décor). Worth a look.

  • One of the most beautiful churches of Madrid. A Baroque jewel, with a conception of space in harmony with the of Rome, with its convex façade, its staircase that spreads toward the street and its beautiful interior. My favorite of this city.

  • Small church with convex façade. Inside there is the Baroque decoration. It is often used for music concerts, like the day of my visit, which makes itself even more attractive.
