Barrio de Salamanca, Madrid

Neighborhood
One of Madrid's most elite neighborhoods, Barrio de Salamanca also delivers some of the city's best high-end shopping. To see what the designer stores and boutiques have on offer, head to Ortega y Gassett street. As home to the city's wealthiest denizens for a few centuries now, the barrio also serves up plenty of eye-catching architecture. Keep an eye out for the Arab House, the Ventas Bullring, and various early 20th-century palace houses. • The Salamanca neighborhood is the best place for shopping and eating in Madrid. It is a beautiful and well kept area very pleasant for walking around. Nice small shops and good restaurants.  more »

  • Unless you want to go shopping or to look at shop windows (if the brand is too expensive), Barrio de Salamanca has much original. There are many local equal to those you find in any part of Madrid and I postureo much pseudomoderno in many shops, restaurants and bars. The best is the good communication that has everything and how close to the Retiro Park, having in addition to some traditional places that still endure the passage of time and the crazy prices. The worst is the overcrowding, the difficulty of parking (if you've made the mistake of going by car looking for a parking lot directly) and the bland which is in not working days.
