Create an itinerary including Castillo de Loarre
Described by UNESCO as "undoubtably the best castle in all of Aragon," Castillo de Loarre held a strategic position on the frontier between Christian and Muslim lands. Built largely during the 11th and 12th centuries, the castle is very well-preserved, and underwent major restorations in the 20th century. Explore its large walls, numerous towers, and enclosed Church of San Pedro. Of its three towers, the "Tower of the Queen" is particularly noteworthy for its set of twin-arched windows, which have been attributed to Lombard and Mozarabic architectural forms. Film buffs might recognize the castle from its appearance in the 2005 epic "Kingdom of Heaven." • This is one of the most amazing castles I've ever visited. I had a great time walking around, exploring and taking photos. OK, so the tours are only in Sapnish, but I was provided with a free leaflet....  more

  • This 11th century romanesque castle is just beautiful inside and out and offers some amazing views. They filmed " The Kingdom of Heaven" here. There is a car park right next to the castle, a little...

  • One of the best preserved castles in Spain. Superb and indispensable guided tour, spacious parking lot, affordable souvenir shop. Unforgettable experience, that's for sure.
  • Excellent historical site. The audio guide is highly recommended. There are several steps so wear comfortable shoes.
  • Tours with guide are only in Spanish. The audio guide is great, though! Castellano, English and French are available on an app you can download. German is available on a handheld you can get with your ticket. The audio guide makes the history of the castle really come alive and gives just the right amount of information.
  • The Kingdom of Heaven had several shots taken here with Orlando Bloom. The views are stunning, and the staff was patient with me for not speaking fluent Spanish. Definitely worth the road trip!
  • Awesome place with a nice history. Is the most old 1000 years almost preserved castle in Europe
