Santuari de Lluc, Lluc

(3.6/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Experience the most important pilgrimage site on Mallorca, Santuari de Lluc. Founded in the 13th century after a Moorish shepherd found a statue of the Virgin Mary on the site, this monastery offers a place of tranquility, spirituality, artistic heritage, and natural beauty. Wander around the grounds to appreciate the view of the mountains and the medieval monastic architecture. Behind the monastery buildings, there's a botanical garden trail with notes on preserving the environment of the Mallorcan mountain region. Inside the museum you will find works of art, ancient pottery and ceramics, furniture, and other artifacts. Enter the ornately decorated church and you may be able to hear the boys’ choir, Els Blauets, which was founded in 1531 and holds concerts regularly--their album is available in the gift shop. There are several places to eat, as well as guest accommodations and campsites. Our Lluc vacation route planner makes visiting Santuari de Lluc and other Lluc attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Not only the monastery of Lluc is worth a visit. The trails in this area are fantastic. Stone oak forests, lush meadows in the spring: For all those who are walking, this is a clear recommendation.

  • The climb going there is very nice but forgive the cyclists who like their lives. Monastery visit costs € 5 and that is really too much. We were too early before the Boys Choir that sings at 13 h. Botanical Garden is just gone wild garden

  • The monastery of Lluc is a tourist attraction that the opinions will always differ. It is a fact that the tight, strict construction lines perfectly in line with what can be expected of a monastery. The monastery church is beautiful and the Black Madonna is to be seen as a visitor, but also take the trouble to inform you about the intertwined legend. However, don't be tempted to let you lunch spot: quality substandard and expensive. Only the wine served is worth its price. All in all, however, a trip that is worthwhile, if only for the beautiful surroundings.

  • Well, the museum is just amazing, the surroundings are beautiful, the gardens are delightful and the ticket to the monastery was only 5 euros which included the parking ticket. All information is clearly showed in signs before entry and explained by the staff working there in basically every language. So don't be put off by bad comments of retarded people
  • Interesting place. They have boys choir
  • A nice area, but I think the highlight was rather the surroundings than the monastery itself.
  • Peaceful, serene and some wonderful architecture. Gets a bit buy when the tourist buses arrive - but a great place to stop for a breather and a coffee if you are cycling along the Ma-10 in either direction really - worth the small detour
  • Be very careful about the parking system, a real scam. I booked two nights and left my rental car a few minutes (around 10 min) next to the expensive car park (right behind a local police car, by the way the officer saw me and told me nothing), just the time to check in at the monastery and collect a free ticket (as the lady at the car park information desk told me) but when I came back to pick up my car, the local police officer was putting on the windshield a 80 euros fine ! I tried to explain but he avoided my look, pretended that I spent 30 minutes and quickly fled away with his car. This police officer is a thief, a liar and a real coward. He just wanted to make money (probably the end of his shift around 17:30). When I ask help at the monastery, the receptionist seemed embarrassed, admited this was not the first time but just recommend me to claim directly to the town hall office. I did it but it was a total waste of time. In short, I was ripped off by the local police and a monastery unable to explain that you can park your car in a first time and then collect a free ticket at the reception (no signs anywhere to explain that). Shame on you. Hope you're happy to rip off tourists.
