4.4/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web
Ornate gargoyles and angels look down on you as you stroll among the mausoleums in Modernist Cemetery. Designed and built around the turn of the century, the cemetery provides a snapshot of Catalan funerary art and architecture as it existed in the Modernist era. Most of the tombs belong to wealthy Indianos, a class of traders who made their fortune in the Americas before returning home to commission ornate homes and the mausoleums in this cemetery. Here you can see the work of sculptors and architects such as Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Antoni M. Gallissà i Soqué, and Vicenç Artigas i Albertí. Take a peaceful walk among the weathered monuments and read some of the inscriptions dating back to the 19th century. You will notice fresh flowers left by the loved ones of many of the people resting in the cemetery. Our Lloret de Mar vacation trip planner makes visiting Modernist Cemetery and other Lloret de Mar attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Interesting, unusual, not familiar to inhabitants of Russia. All very neat, clean. Next to the sklepami plaques with the names of the architects.

  • A little more modern than usual with central gardens with very large statues long family vault but continues to be a cemetery somewhere quiet and sad.
