Castell de Sant Joan (Sant Joan Castle), Lloret de Mar
Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Sitting on a hilltop, Castell de Sant Joan (Sant Joan Castle) is an 11th-century castle that was largely destroyed in 1805 by the British navy. Now, the site serves as a monument where you can learn about medieval history. Climbing the hill and the tower can be tiring, but the view from the top is worth it. There are also informational signs on the castle’s history, although English descriptions are a little lacking. English brochures are often available at the entrance, and provide more detail.
