  • I loved to stroll its overflowing halls of wonderful and well presented fruits. A must while in Las Palmas.

  • This is a small market located in the historic part of Las palmas. The review title is due to the fact that many markets visited during my travels I found so much quaint and products that are not so well priced ... a few shops and little market but still there is more food. from fruit to fish. Recommended if you are in the area but not if you have to make the road especially for this.

  • Compared to many markets around Spain and the world, this one is a bit small and limited in terms of the offerings. It is, however, very nice to drop in and visit and it is very colourful with all the...  more »

  • Check out Jose and Alicia's stall. An incredible selection of local produce and imported exotic fruits and vegetables.
  • Ok but the most touristic of all markets in Las Palmas. Area around is good to have a walk
  • . A perfect gem - Waitrose on steroids . . . A gem of a place to visit and take photos! You can combine it with a stroll all around the Vegueta area, seeing the Cathedral and some very attractive streets, making a lovely half day out. And extend it with a long lunch! This is the "mercado de abastos" - the produce market, and is a Listed Historic Building as well as an exciting place to visit. Custom-built as a market in the mid-19th century, it takes up a whole block. On the outside, leading off the pavement, there are bars, restaurants and little shops. Inside is the Market Hall with stalls jam-packed round the edge and in the middle. A riot of colour, pulsating with people. Opening hours are 6.30 - 14.00 Monday to Thursday, 6.30 - 15.00 Friday and Saturday. This is not a tourist market with trinkets and beach dresses, it's where the Canarians come to do their daily shopping. Like Waitrose on steroids. You have never seen fruit like this. It's all enormous, brightly coloured. Avocados the size of melons - I thought that they WERE melons the first time I saw them. Vegetables. Fish - weird things from the Atlantic depths. And bustling full of people all morning. The sights, the sounds, the smells - like nothing else you'll see on your holiday! There is a good-sized carpark near it, so you can come early, park your car, go and have breakfast in one of the bars, visit the Cathedral and the streets of Vegueta, come back and visit the market, then eat fresher-than-fresh food for lunch in one of the little restaurants. Aaaah! Lovely. .
  • Be aware of Fruteria Victor y Pino. Offers free samples, but the fruits are unmarked and cost twice as much as anywhere else.
  • Well worth the visit if in the old quarter of the city, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish.....🏤
