Catedral de Santa Ana, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
This imposing 16th-century cathedral dominates the landscape of Las Palmas. Catedral de Santa Ana was built subsequent to the conquest of Gran Canaria by the Spanish Catholic kings. Admire the stained-glass windows, ornate pulpits, imposing pillars, and religious artwork. Ascend the cathedral’s tower for views of the church itself, and the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains. The lower part of the tower is serviced by an elevator, but there are some steps up to the very top. Historical cathedral that only costs 3 euros to get in, well worth every penny. Inside you will not only see the cathedral but also the rooms and items who belonged to the priests. If you're feeling adventurous, go see The roof top views. Gem amongst things to see in triana.
Amazing place. We only visited the tower to have a look at the surrounding city. The way up costs EUR2 which is not much for the view you get from the top. Have a cup of coffee in the near small café and enjoy the beauty of this catedral.
Wow well worth the €3 entrance fee to see the museum and cathedral!
