  • A wonder to visit the birthplace of don Benito Pérez Gáldos and where he lived until the age of 19, converted into a museum. Located in the Barrio de Triana, is a traditional House of century XIX. The visit to the House is guided. Guide that taught us the House was super helpful, answering all kinds of questions, gave us information of everything is stopped while we ask and as we were alone, he made several demonstrations of the door chime children; with the children it was very nice and made them small questions to try to engage them and desconecados not feel in that house full of strange objects for them. It is surprising to see the number of original objects of don Benito; the visit begins on the ground floor, where show original artefacts from the village of "San Quintín" its only House on property and it was perfectly located in Santander (such as the bank where rested, the gateway to San Quintin, an original photo of the same...), integrated in the courtyards of their birthplace. Already at the top, the House is divided into 6 rooms, each with its charm, the first which is to the right of the red carpet is the Sala Sorolla, where what is striking is the original portrait painted by le Joaquín Sorolla at the end of the 19th s; It also has a showcase where Don Benito personal objects are displayed. Then we have a room where was born the writer and politician which highlights the wedge he used, and after this we enter the room in which exposed the fairly austere furniture of the room where he died in Madrid and belonged to the House of a nephew. Behind it is the bedroom of his home in Santander highlighting in this room a showcase with material from his relationship with Santander, as well as works and photographs of Cantabrian writers, good friends as Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo and José María de Pereda in addition to José María Estrañi linked to Santander. The closet of the room has clothes and shoes, original, not replicas. Truly spectacular layout of all of the furniture, made POE himself, with inscriptions in latin and details very well tended, by way of example, the legs of the furniture or knobs. It will leave you speechless. The last room is the desktop which had at his summer residence in Santander. A wonder furniture (table, chairs, bookcases,...) and contain from works that he read, do not forget that I read in several languages, pictures which he painted and all kinds of personal items. On the desktop is an original pencil sharpeners or a scale for weighing letters. We can not pass up piano and the harmonium artist played at his home in Santander. Opposite this room we have part of the lounge of his house in San Quentin. And finally in this part of the House there is a recreation of as it was a kitchen at the time, with their belongings. Stairs down to the courtyard, emphasizes the stack, to distil the water; very original; We see as the water falls in a porous stone, which slowly filters it and that the inhabitants of the House at the time they drank. The House is surprising because of its size. On one side there is a room for temporary exhibitions relating to Benito and here you can see the estatúa Victorio Macho, great friend of don Benito, sculpted him. In August was now linked exposure to music and the compositions dedicated to his works.

  • Travel about life and work of benito Pérez Galdós, with representation of your home with multiple belongings. With all this, the best thing was the kindness and sympathy of the Guide, which was sweet as pie and gave us some excellent explanations. Also gtacias the girl from the entrance which was very attentive and friendly.

  • Good starting point to see part of the belongings and the legacy of Don Benito Pérez Galdós. There are many personal items and some works on display. Very well explained with your guide facts relating to Gran Canaria until he emigrated to the Iberian peninsula.
