Timanfaya Nationalpark, Lanzarote

#1 of 819 in Nature in Spain
Explore the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya Nationalpark, a mountainous area that has been frozen in time since the greatest recorded eruptions took place nearly 300 years ago. This national park forms the core area of a protected biosphere reserve. Access to the park is strictly regulated to guard its delicate wildlife, with only a few footpaths and a short rustic route you can explore by camel. The admission fee includes a bus tour around the interior of the park, with a narrated history of the area in several languages. Located just outside the northern limits of the park is an informative visitor center, with permanent displays and audio-visual presentations explaining the origins of the island and the volcanic activity that formed the park’s unusual scenery. • A very interesting visit. The coach trip lasted about 35 minutes, including brief pauses to allow photography. The views were lovely. It was amazing how much the landscape varied over a small...  more »

  • The park is beautiful. No one would disagree I think. You do need to go on a coach to see the park. Windows were clean, but you can forget about taking pictures. They should just have open windows...  more »

  • A wonderful experience visiting the volcano. Take the tour bus through the mountains to the top and see some spectacular views whilst learning about the history of how everything was formed. Once we arrived we visited the restaurant and were shown some impressive demonstrations about just how hot and powerful the volcano is. We watched as the man cooked chicken and fish from the heat given out by the volcano. A really cool experience and worth the trip. (4 hours approximately in total)
  • Spectacular volcanoes view, visit is must. I can't stop saying enough. Avoid the car queue by reaching early and avoiding peak hour, as it can easily take 1-2 hours getting upto the main area. Entry fees is quite high, but getting up there including bus tour is still worth in my opinion ;)
  • Absolutely stunning. A national park that grabs you from start to finish. Bleak, desolate, unspoilt and amazing. So many pictures to take. How do you decide😁
  • A fantastic place..like no other. Volcanoes everywhere! Enormous lava field. The staff are friendly and very efficient in getting all the visitors through. Nice restaurant with snacks as well as more expensive dishes.
  • Certainly very scenic. This is a set tour, private exploring is not permitted. Worth the 10 EUR. Come between noon and 3:30 PM and you can have roast meat, made quite literally in the volcano
