4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Walk the white sand shores of Surf Spot Famara, set against a dramatic mountain landscape. The beach stretches almost 5 km (3 mi) in the Chinijo Archipelago natural park. While unsuitable for swimming, its strong currents provide perfect conditions for water sports such as surfing, bodyboarding, and kitesurfing. Ride the waves of this internationally recognized surfing beach, or hang glide over the shores from the high cliffs above. Head to the nearby village center for a variety of restaurants serving fresh, local seafood. Make Surf Spot Famara a part of your Lanzarote vacation plans using our Lanzarote trip itinerary maker.

  • Pretty rugged and pristine dunes Beach on the north side of the island. In the middle of a protected nature reserve. No facilities on beach as cots etc. .. usually too rough seas to swim but fun to go to the surfers to look or to spend a day at area yet to be discovered by the masses.

  • Famara Beach, together with the beach of las Cucharas is perhaps the best known by lovers of surfing and kite surfing. Always windy Lanzarote and it shows in the amount of surfers and monitors with groups of students attending daily. But it is also one of the few beaches that are without excessive tourism, but with a good range of restaurants of all prices in the village of Famara, where also rent you wetsuits, tables and more. Wild Dunes are exceptional for the nature lovers without degrading and the fine sand, invites you to stroll, sunbathe or simply wallow. I recommend the Sun on the beach restaurant.

  • I loved learning to surf here. Consistent swells and a beautiful background
  • Very consistent spot. Works best with swells from north west. Often windy.
  • I'm not a surfer, but I can see why it's very popular right here. It's a different kind of beach, mostly with big stones, but spectacular views nevertheless.
  • Great spot to learn surfing
  • Great day of surfing! but that effort!
