Playa del papagayo, Lanzarote

3.9
#1 of 176 in Outdoors in Lanzarote
Unwind in the scenic surroundings of Playa del papagayo, a beach in a national park. If it is a clear day, look out to the islands of Puertito and Fuerteventura. The fine white sand and calm blue waters are ideal for relaxing and swimming. Though there is a cafe and bar for refreshments, compared to other beaches in Lanzarote this one has relatively few amenities, so come prepared. The short trek down to the beach might not be suitable for those with mobility issues or strollers. Plan my Lanzarote trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • The beaches of Papagayo (there are 5) this wild beaches, Sandy. The water is turquoise and transparent, you can watch the fish floating by the shore. An ideal place for sunbathing. When it comes to any food there is only one restaurant at the second in the order of the beach, so if someone chooses to get there for the whole day is I advise you to take your own food.

  • There are no buses that lead to these beaches because the road is unpaved, silver lining for those who rent a car. Are a set of bays that morning due to low tide, are traversed by a short walk. Are always very clean although very crowded (especially in the afternoon, because the morning until 10.30 are deserted) and not equipped. Crystal clear and fresh water to regenerate after sunbathing (very hot, even if ventilated).

  • Although the road to access the beaches is horrible (none of asphalt, all stones and the rental car is a bit complicated) the Papagayo Beach deserves it. One evening we were there and the Cove where we were reminiscent of Menorca, with turquoise water. The parking is free.

  • A really pretty place even though the road to get there is a bit adventurous (gravel road). A clean and lovely beach. And don’t miss the view from the hills!
  • 3€ entry and a pretty rough ride to the parking place are definitely worth the beach you get. Absolutely stunning view and nice blue sea. You can even have a snack or drink at a close by cafe. Recommended to everybody that doesn't like to be at a crowded main beach and doesn't bother to drive through nature and a bumpy road to get there!
  • €3 to enter, 3 minute drive on a gravel road to the parking lot, and another 3 minute walk to the stunning papagayo beach. Definitely worth the trip! -1 star as the road in could use a bit of maintenance.
  • €3 to get passed the check post, after that very rough ride(unless you have a 4x4 I guess!) Very good vews on a clear day .Fortuventura can be seen.
  • Hughe parking.
