Mirador Del Rio, Lanzarote

4.2
Designed by an artist, Mirador Del Rio is a viewpoint perched 475 m (1,558 ft) on the Batería del Río. Once a lookout for ships landing clandestinely on the shore, this location was used to represent an alien planet in the BBC's "Doctor Who.” At the cafe lookout, you can view the island of La Graciosa. The gift shop located next to the cafe is built into the volcanic rock that makes up the small mountain. • Exceptional view, we recommend making the ticket for more places so you save on the entrance fee. Not recommended the espresso at the bar, good beer instead. It is worth paying the entrance to be able to admire the island La Graciosa from an exceptional vantage point!!

  • Essential visit. Breathtaking views. Cafeteria where you have a coffee while enjoying the views. Two areas from which to take pictures.

  • As the name implies it is above all a nice point of view. Fortunately it is only €5. If a lot of wind the roof is closed. Another work by Manrique. Think of the vouchers if you make several on the island.

  • Let me start by saying the view is one of the best in the world! Sadly it ends there. The staff appear more interested in chatting to each other than doing anything much. The cafe is well priced but very slow and the tables weren't cleared. The walk up to the observatory was on a fairly unpleasant circular staircase with no handrail. I'm glad I have seen the view but I can't recommend the experience that goes with it
  • Spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes at this cafe. There is a price of about 5 euros to enter, but worth it to get in. The drinks here were very refreshing and though we did not eat, the food looked amazing. Wheelchair and pushchair accessible but there are steps you should be aware of on the viewing platforms and also to the observatory. The only negative comment I have is that the staff could have been more welcoming.
  • Cool place. Visited in November and was really just a few people :-) You can buy some souvenirs or eat something in the restaurant. Two different terraces. Quite interesting architecture of this place. The view is breathtaking :-) Free toilet Free parking
  • We almost decided not to stop at Mirador del Rio. That would have been a huge mistake. One of the more spectacular viewing points ever. Also, one can enjoy the view through large windows, while having snacks from the cafeteria. If you're driving, take the scenic route to the right along the cliff, when leaving the parking next to entrance.
  • Really spectacular view (which you can also enjoy for free if you walk 100m down the road from the tourist centre). Good spot to stop for a coffee or light snack.
