Categories: Lookouts, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 2,600 reviews on the web
Designed by an artist, Mirador del Rio is a viewpoint perched 475 m (1,558 ft) on the Batería del Río. Once a lookout for ships landing clandestinely on the shore, this location was used to represent an alien planet in the BBC's "Doctor Who.” At the cafe lookout, you can view the island of La Graciosa. The gift shop located next to the cafe is built into the volcanic rock that makes up the small mountain. • They are very beautiful views of the island of la Graciosa, which is just opposite. All well prepared the tourist couple. But I think that not worth paying € 4.5 since a meter before you get the same looks and without pay.

  • Highest point from where you can see beautiful landscapes and impressive on the island of La Graciosa... However from the road that leads to the Mirador you will find exactly the same view... no pay... "tourist trap".

  • We visited here after the Jameos Del Agua & Cueva de los Verdes. It was the perfect end to our trip up north of the island. We enjoyed looking out at the stunning views from the viewing centre while e...  read more »
  • Cesar Manrique is responsible for many of Lanzarote's great architectural designs and building, however as great as the Mirador Del Rio is, it is the breathtaking view that steals the show. on a clear day the view is out of this world, definitely worth a trip to see this spectacular creation and view. A must do when visiting Lanzarote
  • This old converted gun battlements was given the Cesar Manrique touch and is one of the visitor centres on Lanzarote. Mirador del Rio (view point overlooking the Rio) is on the most Northerly tip of the island and overlooks La Graciosa, Montana Clara and Alegranza the 3 islands to the north of Lanzarote. Just walking into this place takes you breath away as Cesar has the midas touch when it comes to architecture. Head up the spiral staircase past the shop and onto the roof to get an amazing view (clouds permitting). Once you have visited the Mirador if you have time walk to the east on top of the cliff towards the aerial masts (sand path just before Mirador car park). You will be able to walk into some more old battlements and get some unusual photos of the Mirador.
  • Beautiful, if not simply breathtaking views overlooking Isla Graciosa from the spacious rooms. Was not impressed with food and drink, but the stunning scenery compensates for that.
  • Definitely worth coming up here. You can have similar views hiking from Famara along the coast on the otero path.
  • Breathtaking views and a James Bond-villainesque cave with a cafe on top of the mountain. This is maybe the first thing I remember when thinking about Lanzarote.
