Cueva de los Verdes, Lanzarote

#2 of 19 in Nature in Lanzarote
Must see · Cave · Nature / Park
Marvel at unusual rock formations in a kaleidoscope of colors on a tour of Cueva de los Verdes, a volcanic cave system. Its formation is a result of the eruptive activity of the La Corona volcano around 3,000 years ago, which created an underground tunnel. Listen to guide explain the unusual geology of the cave, tell how it has served as a hiding place, and reveal its special secret. The 1 km (0.6 m) cave has uneven floors, many steps, and low ceilings. It may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Sensible shoes are recommended. • Forget any negative reviews, it's a great tour and the guide spoke Spanish and English fluently and with humour. The ambience in the caves is enhanced by carefully chosen music and the whole experience is one not to be missed. There are some wonderful surprises which you will just have to wait to see for yourself. Not an appropriate tour for very young children and one brave soul in our group made it around on crutches but I would not recommend it.
  • Very nice volcanic cave. The guided tour through the cave took around 45 minutes. Worth a visit
  • A great visit of an underground cave that has partly been transformed in a music hall (and a tourist attraction). The tour lasts for around 45min and is les by a guide (it is not possible to go by yourself). According to our guide, the inside tunnels are very long (5 more kilometers after the music hall) and hosts a scientific laboratory that measures volcanic activity on the island. The only remarks we had were that the groups are quite large and that our guide was speaking English very fast with an accent that was not always easy to understand.
  • Great afternoon out. €7.60 for a guided tour with a 6 year old, about 1.5 hrs, quite challenging walk underground, up and down steps, limited clearance passages etc. Not suitable for very young children and no prams. If you go after 3pm you get a 30% entry discount.
  • This venue was part of The Natural Wonders Tour and was without a doubt excellent. Word of caution some parts of the route get a little bit tight but stay with it because the views are totally stunning. Would certainly visit again if the chance happened.
