Cueva de los Verdes, Lanzarote

4.3
#2 of 13 in Nature in Lanzarote
Marvel at unusual rock formations in a kaleidoscope of colors on a tour of Cueva de los Verdes, a volcanic cave system. Its formation is a result of the eruptive activity of the La Corona volcano around 3,000 years ago, which created an underground tunnel. Listen to guide explain the unusual geology of the cave, tell how it has served as a hiding place, and reveal its special secret. The 1 km (0.6 m) cave has uneven floors, many steps, and low ceilings. It may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Sensible shoes are recommended. Put Cueva de los Verdes into our Punta Mujeres road trip planning tool and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This was a very different trip. Well worth a visit. So unusual and beautiful. A spectacular natural phenomenon well worth the effort to see. One of the must see attractions of the island in my option....  more »
  • Visit cooked lasts approximately one hour. Somewhere, there are that go slightly crouching, but not overwhelming for anything. Highly recommended

  • It’s unbelievable and scary at the same time. That you see a great big cave that made from volcano. So it’s not really a cavern but... wow! It’s so beautiful so amazing all that rocks was made with so many beautiful colors. When you hear that story behind the cavern you feel really scary and at the same time you like to go back and see what happened self!
  • Worthy to see but mind your head!! Some sections are low and you'll near to crouch to get through. The guide spoken English and Spanish and was very knowledgeable. Beautiful display of the forces of nature
  • Very worthwhile attraction to visit! The caves are comfortably cool, even in summer they remain about 18 to 20 degrees celcius. Very beautiful to walk around in and the tour guides are very friendly. For 9.50€ per person you van visit the cave, or get a combo deal for 21€ which will grant access to 3 sights. Be sure to bring a camera that is ultra light sensitive, such as a Samsung phone otherwise your pictures will turn out very dim.
  • Fantastic caves but the tour guides could do with better training. Ours rushed ahead, leaving half of the group behind. They also take groups of 50 at a time, which is too many for one person to handle.
  • Stunning caves although there are some where you have to walk along a ledge. Not my cup of tea. But in general I loved them.
