  • Arrived to the monastery of the Holy thorn with much interest in visit it and although was Monday and in theory not had visits guided, a brother of the Salle (of them 4 that live there), very kindly us made a visit guided complete, didactic and full of data and references. We learned many things and we became short. The room beautiful Chapter House and observe the different chapels and Church styles. A wonder in the heart of the province of Valladolid.

  • A Salesian brother taught us the facilities and told us the history of the monastery, since its founding by Benedictine monks until today, converted into a Center for agricultural studies. Napoleon's troops did not leave much after the looting, although the monastery, being Cistercian, was already quite sober. Elegant Chapter House and, how no, the only relic that was them after a fire, the Holy Thorn.

  • It is a Cistercian Monastery which, after seven centuries, is kept in very good condition because always, except a period of fifty years in the 19TH century, it has been in use. Now works as a professional agricultural training college included boarding school. It has two large cloisters, preserves the Romanesque Chapter House and a very large, well preserved Church that demonstrates the economic power that had this monastery. It is worth visiting it. The explanations of the guides, a de la Salle brother you that he has lived many years and remains very lively, they are excellent.

  • One of those unknown places of Spain which are must. Grand monastery of Cistercian origin. In the monastery there is a school of agriculture that de La Salle brothers. They are responsible for the guided tours that are excellent. If you are between Valladolid and Zamora take a couple of hours for a visit.
