(4.8/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Roque de los Muchachos is a rocky mound at the highest point on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain. The rocks are found at an elevation of 2,423 m above sea level, not far from the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos, where some of the world's largest telescopes are situated; the altitude and the dryness of the climate here give rise to excellent observing conditions. The rocks are contained with the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. From the Roque, one can see the islands of Tenerife, El Hierro and La Gomera.

  • Visit at the beginning a little disorganized, since they do not say where to stay (first go to the visitors center, is only a parking lot) then already with the Guide, that explains everything is visit the GTC (great Canary telescope) is gorgeous, stunning, the world's largest, is a wonder, see what we have in Spain and do not know.

  • Stunning breathtaking you. It is the island, Tenerife, El Hierro and la Gomera if it does good. Curious telescopes. If you're wanting to exercise, you can take a good walk. If not, with only some meters you can enjoy of amazing views. You can climb by car up to top. Recommended in the evening, although the road at night is even more dangerous.

  • It is the Summit of the island of la Palma - 2426 Mr. depending on the weather, the landscape changes, it's very beautiful. It is reached by road. The miradors (viewpoints) allow to admire the landscape... At the top, you can see the observatories. La Palma is famous for its pure sky which allows the observation of the stars. We get past the fence that allows road access to the Summit and we get to the car park (not very big). Here, nothing, no bar, no toilet, just a small hut with a person giving qques info... but nothing in french. From here continue on foot to the Summit. If the weather is clear, the bottom of the caldera, if the weather is cloudy, you see 'sea of clouds'. In both cases it's very beautiful. I recommend.

  • A beautiful location with spectacular views of the Caldera de Taburiente and of the other islands. Also home to many large and important telescopes which are almost as interesting as the view. The road up from Santa Cruz is very winding so I hope you don't get car sick (totally worth it even if you do). In the winter time the roads can be closed due to snow. In that case, it's fun to do as the locals do and drive up to play in it! Oh, and there are no petrol stations along the road so make sure you have enough fuel before leaving sea level...
  • Stunning view of the caldera. A must visit
  • Beautiful landscape, with friendly crows!!
  • Simply Awesome!!!! It takes your breath away!!!!!!!!!
  • Great vantage point. Duty visit in a la Palma. The best early visit. Later in the day, the parking spaces are occupied.
