Lookout
Roque de los Muchachos is a rocky mound at the highest point on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain. The rocks are found at an elevation of 2,423 m above sea level, not far from the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos, where some of the world's largest telescopes are situated; the altitude and the dryness of the climate here give rise to excellent observing conditions. The rocks are contained with the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. From the Roque, one can see the islands of Tenerife, El Hierro and La Gomera.

  • After half an hour on the beautiful road you arrive at the parking lot of Roque e Los Muchachos. Hence only spectacular breathtaking views over and over in the crater of the caldeira de taburiente. Highly recommended if you like views.

  • I am fortunate to live from 5 months in La Palma and Roque is one of the first places I visited. Already the first time I was Bewitched: under the weather decidedly gloomy, overcast and over a bright sun, warm and at my feet an endless sea of clouds never still. I went back many times, whatever the weather: Sun, sky, snow, clouds (which means being literally inside clouds). I brought all the people who came to see me to enjoy that feeling of infinity and peace the Roque always communicates. Recommend to anyone traveling en la isla bonita to climb up to Roque because for sure you will not regret this.
