  • Efforts to replicate as a er the life of the brothers and fathers monks are noticed. Only since 1989 has began the reform and the result us seems fabulous. Interesting era for my learning about an event that was the seizure in a country that was then very dominated by religion. I am sure that is worthwhile to offer the tour also in French and English.

  • To which you like the archaeological remains and enjoy nature and a quiet environment has visit Escaladei. Not in vain the carthusians sought and found haven here in the middle ages. Shame as always the Disentailment of the 19th, that did disappear as many temples and monasteries. At least here they have reconstructed something and they have consolidated what had. As so many other charterhouses, as the of the Vall de Christ in height, that of la Valldigna and many others here also exudes peace. A site that needs to go without delay.

  • They have done their best to very many things to be restored. And here are still working on it. There is also a small gift shop where you can buy products from the region.

  • Gorgeous views, tastefully preserved ruins, good signage in English as well as Spanish and Catalan. Not too expensive.
  • You moved to the time in which the monks colonized the Priory and shows in these photos their houses 700 mtr2 and its private gardens of the same measure. The truth is that I loved it.

  • Walk through Escaladei and you will discover that of Provence arrived in the 12TH century the monks of the order of the Charterhouse to build a monastery, thus founding the first Carthusian monastery of the Iberian Peninsula. They chose a unique landscape, framed by the mountains of Montsant, where a pastor had dreamed a few angels who ascended to Heaven by a ladder resting on the trunk of a pine tree, hence Escaladei or "ladder of God".

  • Impressive ruins of which was the first Iberian Peninsula Carthusian monastery. The restoration is very interesting and does not interfere in that romantic ruin look so attractive that it takes the place. The guide was very interesting, so I recommend you take the guided tour. The documentary film is completely soporific.
