Plaza de Maria Pita, La Coruna

(1,600+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
Spend time wandering around Plaza de Maria Pita and admiring the grand architecture that surrounds it. The city hall is particularly striking. This square owes its name to a local 16th-century heroine, Maria Píta, who played a pivotal role in the city’s defense against the English Armada. You can find her statue in the square. Stop for a drink or bite to eat in one of the many terraced cafes and restaurants. This square is also home to the city’s tourist office, if you need a map or extra advice about any attractions. • The architecture is wonderful and it is very nice place to see. You can also sit in a restaurant and have lunch or just have some coffee and soak up the atmosphere.  more »
  • A place which is worth visiting, the facade of the Town Hall is worth seeing. The location is in the heart of the city of A Coruña, in the square have cafes, restaurants or any other premises for tapas, the dock is located a few steps from the plaza, as well as the wine area and the old town. Ideal to go with the family and spend a day of relaxation, take advantage and visit the surrounding area.

  • It is a nice place to have some tapas or drink a cup of coffee. We were lucky with a sunny day, so many people were around and a coffee seemed to be even better. There are a lot of different restauran...  more »

  • Nice place for starting a sightsee tour for Coruna.
  • Don't miss this place when visiting Coruña, not to miss the fact that the main statue is dedicated to Maria Pita!
  • One of the Major Place of all Spain. I do prefer it than another one in Spain like "La Plaza Mayor" in Madrid.
  • Recommended and beautiful place to start the journey in A Coruña.
  • I guess it is the most beautiful Plaza Mayor in Spain!
