Plaza de Maria Pita, La Coruna

Spend time wandering around Plaza de Maria Pita and admiring the grand architecture that surrounds it. The city hall is particularly striking. This square owes its name to a local 16th-century heroine, Maria Píta, who played a pivotal role in the city’s defense against the English Armada. You can find her statue in the square. Stop for a drink or bite to eat in one of the many terraced cafes and restaurants. This square is also home to the city’s tourist office, if you need a map or extra advice about any attractions. • Lovely square surrounded by arcades. It is located in the Centre of the city where you can see the Town Hall and monument to Maria Pita. Within the City Council sometimes you can visit several exhibitions.

  • In the heart of the historical center, Piazza is the ideal starting point (directly accessible underground paid parking) for a visit to the historical centre or distance, the economic and commercial centre of la Coruña. Statue of Maria Pita, Joan of Arc of the Galicia, many restaurants (attention no service before 14:00), tourist reception and documentation in french. End of March it will remain desperately empty of all activities, see same human presence at the antipode of the full season!

  • Good place to look for lunch. They serve seafood very fast. You must try the pulp and fritados. But remember, everyone sleeps here from 1:30pm till 4pm
  • One of the main places to visit in La Coruna. Magnificent setting! The square is also full of alfresco vars and eateries. Not to be missed.
  • Great place to wander around, great bars and restaurants. Good time to visit is the evening when the town hall is illuminated and it's bustling with locals
  • An imposing square in A Coruña, with many swish restaurants and bars. The place has a nice vibe, probably due to its popularity with all ages, and stuff happening.
  • Nice place in the town especially there are many good restraunt around the plaza. Also parking is very easy in here underground has a huge garage so you dont have to find spot!
