The Church of Saint Michael is a church in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1931.HistoryThe Church of Saint Michael started its building in the end of the 15th Century, and based on the date of the plaque existing at the door of gospel gothic facade it leads to think that its erection was a consequence of the petition to the construction of a new temple in this area of the city to the Catholic Monarchs on their visit that year 1484. Previously, that area was served by an old hermitage. Its construction, however, would last several centuries resulting in an excellent cathedral-like set where latest gothic elements and other ones typical from beginning and full renaissance and baroque.DescriptionIt has rectangular floor, divided in three naves, the central one taller than the lateral ones, by pilasters from a flowery gothic style. • We were adult only €2 in early November there, admission per. The Church is somewhat bleak (typical medieval Catholic). Seeing the old large main altar, which is explained in a given description (also in german available). Otherwise: Just another old church, like so many others. The entrance/atrium with beautiful mosaic walls is picturesque.
