  • This beautiful building rises on the same lot where old is situo the disappeared convent of San Francisco. It was erected in the 19th century and its appearance mimics the Renaissance palaces, and revolves around a central courtyard.

  • The Provincial Palace of Jaén is the main work of the civil architecture of the city of Jaén and is home to the headquarters of the Provincial Council. Upon entering the building the first stop leads to the patio. It condenses light and moves it through the openings of the galleries filling life with dependencies. Crowned columns, balustrades and carpeted gardens, round around a source from which emerges the image of the Virgin. A sculptural group from of the Dominican convent of La Guardia and donated by their owners, to deal with in principle, the courtyard of the Museo Provincial. On the first floor of the Provincial Palace of Jaense is, among others, the dependencies of the Presidency and the Hall of distinguished characters, whose walls and as witnesses of the time are the portraits of the former Presidents of the Council. The balcony of this room serves as a privileged vantage point from which to contemplate the Cathedral. Already on the second floor the plenary Hall, is located heart of local democracy in the province. The plenary hall or Hall of sessions should be harmonious decoration to the project of the architect Justino Florez flames. His style retrieves Mannerist historical trends.

  • The Provincial Palace is the main work of the civil architecture of the city of Jaén. It was not the first time that the provincial government occupied this site. In fact, the first building that houses the institution was the convent of San Francisco, built in 1,246 by Fernando III el Santo as Palace with chapel and donated in 1,354 by King Pedro el Cruel to the Franciscan friars. With the seizure, as well as the rest of the convents of the city, you will go to public hands housing the provincial Council.
