Palacio de Villardompardo, Jaen
(4.6/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
See how nobility of Moorish times relaxed and rejuvenated at Palacio de Villardompardo, where steam forced pollutants out of the body through persipiration (rather than a soak in hot water like the Romans offered). The baths are designed with three chambers: cold, warm, and hot. Water was pumped in using a traditional Moorish waterwheel and sophisticated engineering allowed it to be heated from a boiler room down below. Horseshoe arches of brick and stone decorate the main chamber, supporting the barrel-vaulted ceilings and star-shaped skylights. You can access an observation deck from above to truly appreciate the architectural feat. • After the reform of a few years ago, Arab baths back to look in all its splendour. Not forgetting the mirador above, in the Palace of Villardompardo

  • This cultural center is clean and very well. It offers quality content. The views from the observation deck are interesting and the staff is nice.

  • This somewhat away from the Center and advise you go day. The Museum has a lot to do but for me there is too much value. I am struck that still almost all protected by glass cases don't let pictures do more than in the area of the baths. Near the Museum where nice people work by the way, is the statue of the lizard... consult the legend!

  • 3.5/5 stars*. I give four because the bathrooms were very special and unique compared to other Moorish attractions I've seen I'm Andalusia. There's not endless detail in the architecture, but it's still beautiful and well-preserved. However, for me, other than the lookout spot there isn't anything else worth seeing in the museum. I walked through all of it and most of it was a bit dull; I'd only recommend seeing the baths. I think they should add water in them because it would add to the mysterious atmosphere and be good for photography reflections. I think with a few tweaks this museum could be great.
  • These Arabic Baths are worth a visit, before meandering through the baths watch the video. There is no water but the areas have been well restored. The Naïve Museum above the Baths is also worthy of a visit. The Baths and the Museum are free and the staff helpful.
  • Cordoba, Granada, Seville and Malaga may all be more famous for their Moorish remains, but the Arab baths complex Jaen deserve as much attention. Huge, extremely well preserved bath complex.
  • Visited the Arab bathrooms, greatly preserved and free entrance. Highly recommend if visiting Jaen.
  • Visit recommended and MANDATORY. It has a great history behind apart have different rooms mixing jewelry, toys and tools of work... of the time. They have a very cool lookout Café and courtyard organized sometimes concerts, plays, among others.
