Jaen Cathedral, Jaen
(4.6/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Though construction of Jaen Cathedral began in 1249, most of what stands today is from the 16th century. It is the home of important religious relics, such as the Holy Face of the Veil of Veronica. It is said that Saint Veronica used this cloth to wipe the face of Christ, and his image then became imprinted upon it. Pick up an audio guide and admire the adorned interior of the cathedral. On the lower floor, experience an impressive collection of religious art from over the centuries. • Interesting to note that a small town (115,000 inhabitants) has that Cathedral. Until they explain that it is the jewel of the Renaissance by its architect and finish it in just a century by the influx of pilgrims. It is outrageous that they have not yet awarded Unesco heritage. (They say that by clerical error in the delivery of documentation). It is worth to see and enter upper hallways by loa approach

  • I have no habit of paying the clergy to visit the heritage of all Spaniards, that also does not contribute Ibi or pay VAT by the price of tickets. We urgently need another seizure.

  • Probably not well known as a cathedral. In fact nobody told us to stop by here, and we did as a pure coincidence. The cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin and it's built in Renaissance-style. Notable safe and caveaux in the basement with lots of ancient reliques. Cathedral is quite nice, in comparison to the one of Granada, I much prefer this one. Entrance is €5, which I hope they will be immediately reinvested into conservation considering the condition there cathedral verse (e.g. windows broken that let the rain in).
  • €5 Really?
  • Fantastic! Place to visit

  • €5 for entry... Long live the clergy

  • With 5EUR admission price to the midfield. But it's worth, because an audio guide is in there with the price. Audacious is that you can - not shoot even without Flash not. Insider tip: You reach up to the Gallery on it and can both outside than inside the Church along and catches so a beautiful views of the city and time an entirely different view on the Interior of the Church!
