  • Hornos de Segura is a mountain village nestled on a rocky Crag, just above the reservoir of the ovens stride... all in the Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and las Villas. Around the perimeter of the urban enclosure there are five viewpoints (and three more to rise to the top) that rise of the cliffs and offer beautiful panoramic views is an attraction rather than enriches the tourist visit and is suitable for the whole family. Time and dedication it deserves if you intend to visit all the viewpoints. Some are marked, others are simply part of the ancient medieval defenses or are in the heights, next to the Castle - Cosmolario of ovens. The views over the landscape of the reservoir and the mountains are very interesting. Following the modern entrance to the Villa the first encountered is the viewpoint of the new door. Next to this viewpoint is a very photogenic cliff that abuts the street and sinks its foundations in the depths of the Crag (this rock are the remains of the cliffs that closed the walled complex and was flown with dynamite to facilitate access, many decades ago) the second (closed at night) is the viewpoint of the boom which is just behind the Town Hall, in the square of the wheel and next to the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, which is attached to the edge Cliff dell. We will always find open during the day and worth visiting separately. The third viewpoint is on the door of the Villa - after crossing the street that bears his name - also referred to as "the Fort" and is the original entrance to the walled enclosure and sits on an old Roman Fort. It is a scenic vantage point overlooking the peak of the helmet and the road that leads to new farmhouses. Between the ancient stones of the building grow a few plants that there are known as "shoes" (they have a very delicate pink flowers and are an example of rock vegetation - which is capable of living in the crevices of the rocks - we would recommend, please, its conservation, they add a touch of wild and natural monument, not everything has to have mortar and be plastered...) The fourth is the viewpoint of Calle San Bartolomé, or "square" novae (a small very picturesque corner) this street we'll find going back to get out of the door of the Villa. It is the first that we see inside... to the right, about twenty meters, or less. It has a bench rest where glued to rock and old masonry with all whitewashed stone walls. After visiting this vantage point you can continue the ride and we let ourselves be surprised by plants and flowers (in May... Roses of all colors, clavellinas, clover, geraniums, carnations bursting and others) and reached the lookout of the Adarve, perched on wild fig trees and abundant vegetation that hangs on the rocks. Finally, the climb to the castle we found three viewpoints more. Take the narrow streets that rise towards him and asking to any person if necessary, neighbors are friendly with visitors as the Andalusian character is very open, that you treat people with kindness and correction. You must be careful to watch children at the top, next to the castle to avoid surprises. The other viewpoints are well protected and some have benches or chairs to relax. It is highly recommended to go on the ride in early hours or in the evening, to protect themselves from the lively Andalusian Sun and high temperatures of the summer. At noon it is much better to seek the shade of an awning or umbrella and taken things very easy would have come to that, no? It is not easy today to find tranquillity, nature, friendly atmosphere and good vibes... As anecdotal and historical detail noted "conflict" over the official name of the reservoir (the first of the Guadalquivir basin and one of the oldest in Spain) since the name of "Reservoir el Tranco de Beas" appear on the map but... is not at all accurate and there are two theories, according to information from people of age and good judgment. The first is that the Chief Engineer of the works - in the first tens of the last century - is staying in Beas de Segura and mail arrived at that address, whereupon the reservoir was registered that way... The second, complementary to the previous and also likely, is that the same engineer established friendship with a mountainous neighbor of Beas and... clear, between one thing and another... the name of this town in the foothills of the mountainous area was associated with the reservoir. The official name, there is still some discussion... The issue is that the municipality of Beas even arrives at the reservoir. Only one thing was missing at the time of the visit... that it had rained more generously during the winter and spring. The drought in the summer of 2017 will be a difficult challenge for Ocean of Jaén olive and for the whole of forests and all natural vegetation. Go with extreme care with discarded cigarettes and not turn candela under any circumstances, all caution is low. Enjoy your travel!
