(4.6/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Take a trip back in time and experience how wine has been made since the 1800’s at R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, S.A.. Tour through a still operational winery that has been using the same methods since its construction in 1877. Journey down into cobwebbed tunnels where the bottle aging takes place, then through the coopers' workshop where they still hand make their barrels. You will end your tour at a much more modern, above-ground shop and can take a trip to the tasting room bar to sample the outcome of this process. Make sure you book a tour in advance, as they may not take walk-ins. Put R. • Great vinocola, with picturesque way of working. Very different from other wineries we visited. Unfortunately not allow pictures.

  • Visit Lopez de Heredia Winery for 30 euros. Ultimately this price implies a visit (7E) and a bottle of Viña Tondonia (23E). Putting aside this "must buy", the Winery is one of the most impressive I've seen. Visit by the caves where rests a came "made by hand" handmade. Thick layers of rust on the walls and cobwebs which prevent aphid. Ends with a tasting of 3 wines from the winery: Viña Cubillo, Viña Bosconia and Viña Tondonia. At the end of the ride, your corresponding souvenir bottle. Without a doubt, a wine cellar that you should necessarily visit.

  • You have to book the visit and is not the cheapest in the area, but it is worth. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy a wine tasting in a beautiful place. Very well organized... and get a delicious wine to taste at home. Congratulations!

  • The best? Very famous, rather expensive, highest quality though
  • Perfect tour , but a bit pricey 30€ .
  • Awful. Rude and arrogant staff and wines were not to my liking. I asked for a small taste to see if I wanted a bottle of the Tondonia. She started pouring a glass - I told her again just a taste while she poured (we were driving that day) and she said don't worry. My friend and I both found the wine unpleasantly acidic - almost vinegary. She said 'are you buying it?'. I said no and she said 'fine then €2.10 for the glass'. We paid and walked out and went to CVNE and spent €100 on fantastic wines.
  • We happened to be in Logrono over our anniversary, and what a wonderful way to spend the day. This is the oldest winery in Spain, so they take a lot of pride in how they process the grapes and keep to the highest standards. There is a 25 euro charge per person for the tour, but it includes their best bottle of wine, a tasting of their wines, and some cured meats. After the tour, we decided to purchase a bottle of wine to enjoy on their patio alongside a platter of meat and cheese. We had inquired about purchasing the meat and cheese platter, but they treated us to it. It was wonderful to sit out in their chairs (repurposed wine barrels) with the warm sun and delicious wine. Simply magical.
  • Most picturesque and charming bodega in Rioja. The wines are something unique and truly stunning. Tour guides are lovely and they even took us for a quick visit when we arrived without a booking and outside opening hours!! Unmissable!
