  • Upon entering the Church first thing that impresses you is his mejestuosidad. He was rehearsing the choir, that together with the sound of the music sung and an excellent performer of clarinet did that visit was great. Then, a tour of the interior where setting the steps that were to be used in Easter and some altarpieces of the 26TH century together with peace they breathed made our visit was great. I highly recommend the visit to the Church.

  • The interior boasts the choir and the altar. In the choir, we can see the end of the 17th century choir stalls and Domingo Garagalza 1798 organ and the great altarpiece of the high altar is the largest of all La Rioja, dates from 1730 and it was made of wood painted with great decor. Already on the outside is the main entrance under the arch with scenes of Calvary and imagery of the Apostles and the Eternal Father together with the shields of the Velasco. It is a work of plateresque style by Felipe Vigarny, one of the most prominent sculptors of the Spanish Renaissance. Decoration with candlesticks, grotesques, and garlands made of stone and restored in 1999, introduces a new sculptural style of Italian Renaissance Court in La Rioja and represents the transition from the old church to the present Church structurally in the manner of triumphal arch. But certainly more special thing about all this great building is the tower which set precedent in other many later as the Santa María la Redonda in Logroño (1742) or the Cathedral of Santo Domingo the Calzada (1765). Its bottom is the work of Juan de Raón 1671 of Gothic style and square shape. The more Baroque top is Agustín Ruiz de Azcárraga from 1720 and has an octagonal body of bells which is crowned by a cupola with Lantern.
