Bodegas Muga grows vines in a climate protected by the Montes Obarenses, making for healthy grapes and rich flavors. The grape varieties grown on the 620 acres (1 sq mi) of land include Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano, Viura, and Malvasia, each with its own distinctive flavor due to the carefully managed soil. Reserve a spot in a wine-tasting class to learn how to discover the nuances of the wines, or simply visit the shop and tasting room on site. Vineyard and winery tours are available daily; upon arrival, ask for the next tour time. To visit Bodegas Muga and other attractions in Haro, use our Haro online visit planner.
Bodegas Muga reviews
Wonderful wine tasting- the gentleman that took care of us, Roberto, out on the patio was superb. He was patient with us, was informative and generous with his time in addition to being very kind... more »
Each wine tour seems to be a little different and this one is special because they go through the process so thoroughly and get to see a barrel being made. Really thought this tour was the best of... more »
We've had some Muga wines before, but last time we've been here we missed the opening times. And that was 7 years ago. This time we went in the morning already to make sure to be able to do some... more »
Yes, it is a huge place. The tour is 90 minutes, but doesn't seem too long. They have their own cooperage and make all of the barrels and vats on site. The two wines served at the end of the tour are Blanco and the standard tinto. The good stuff is at the wine bar. If you don't care about how the wine is made (really pretty typical except for the cooperage) skip the tour and go to the bar.
Wanted to visit to pay for a tasting of the wines to purchase, emailed them and was told we were not welcome as we are travelling with our 9 month old baby. What kind of place doesn't let you come because you have a baby? They say it was due to security reasons, I understand that visiting a winery and having children running around working machinery etc can pose a risk but surely a baby who isn't mobile and is in the parents arms the entire time while they simply taste wine is not going to cause any dramas? As people who work in the wine industry in Australia we see adults causing a lot more trouble for wineries than children ever do.
Great tasting and it's free if you buy bottles of wine. Standard tasting flight of wine is €9 for 6 wines.
Really enjoyable tour and tasting. Beautiful buildings, many traditional wine making processes. Barrel and Vat making on site - v interesting. Good guide. Highly recommended. Follow it up with more wine and tapas in Halo!
Great place for wine tastings, one of the most famous wineries in La Rioja. The wines itself are a bit pricey, but taste nice.
