The Palace was used for receiving guests: Sultans from North Africa and the noble kastil′skih Kings. The Palace later passed into private hands in 1922 year declared a monument of historical heritage of Spain. The Alcazar del Genil Palace, is a Palace of Almohad origin of the 13th century which served as a place of entertainment as well as large receptions for the Court, as well as for other Royal houses of Granada. The Alcázar is located on the same place where King Boabdil handed the keys of the city to the Catholic monarchs on January 2, 1492.
