Granada has many to see and enjoy, and even if not in the great circuits, the experience of visiting this monastery still active is unique.

Enjoyed a wonderful visit to this Third Order Franciscan monastery, lived in by nuns who have opened a museum within their precinct in which many works of art are on view. We had a wonderful guide - I...  more »

A friendly welcome, a place driven by prayers or there is a real peace. A funny, charming and effective guide. We have learned many things about Andalusians rituals and the origin of certain customs. Make the detour, go you will not regret.

  • I cannot believe this isn't packed with tourists. This was amazing. You ring a doorbell and for €5 you get a personal tour of the first Catholic structure in Granada. It is amazing inside and was hands-down the most unexpected and interesting part of our trip. If the crowds of the Alhambra make you crazy, stop by this place.
  • Lovely set of 16th century Church and a Moorish houses United, with interior courtyard & views of the Alhambra. Beautiful collection of religious art explained by guides Sablon and very friendly.

  • Wonderful monastery from the 16th century esplendamente retained by Franciscan religious sisters of closing. It has a notable collection of sacred art. Both the art historian and sister catering to visitors are very educational. An artist explains in detail the technique of applying gold leaf to water over pieces carved in wood.

  • If you like religious art here you can find a good collection of paintings and sculptures. The price of admission is five euros and is guided. The fofografias are not allowed.

Where to stay in Granada

Granada is built in a valley looking up to the majestic Alhambra, and most visitors choose to stay where the view can be admired. Plaza Nueva, just down the hill from the Alhambra entry gates, constitutes the touristic center of the city. Many of the famous free-tapas bars and lively restaurants line this famous plaza, as well as a number of small hotels and apartment rentals. Found directly behind the plaza are the city's two historical old Moorish quarters, Albayzín and El Sacramonte, which are characterized by their narrow winding streets and picturesque whitewashed buildings. Here you'll find a number of charming hotels with hillside views of the Alhambra and city center.
