La Ermita de San Miguel Alto, Granada

4.7
Admire stunning vistas over the city and snowcapped mountains in distance from La Ermita de San Miguel Alto, a tiny 17th-century church built on the grounds of a Muslim watchtower. The church boasts a simple Neoclassical design with a single-balcony facade, yellow brick columns, and a bell tower. You probably won't be able to enter, but the vista will make the trip a worthwhile endeavor. • More than the Church, which was built in the 17th century on the basis of an Arabic Tower but is rather simple and unadorned, the place is worth visiting because among the many sights of Granada is the highest and allows a Visual amazing. The climb you can walk but is tough but it can be reached by public transport.

  • Reach the Ermita de San Miguel Alto is not simple, you want to climb either for the lack of indications that force you to having to ask for indication to the inhabitants (always kind and helpful). The effort, however, will be more than compensated by the beautiful scenery. Having also visited Mirador de San Nicolas if you have little time and having to choose between the two, the choice of the latter is obliged by being more convenient to get to. The view of the Alhambra does not differ greatly. In both cases, enjoy!

  • Most beaitiful view of Granada! Totally worth the walk/drive up. The Ermita although was closed. Even though it's a 5/5.
  • The trail offers great views of Granada and the hills. As for the Ermita visit, the hours are a well preserved mistery.
  • Great view but if you don't like to climb that much, go to the Mirador San Nicolas
  • Great view of Alhambra and the city, especially at night. Definitely recommend it.
  • Incredible view of the city and the Alhambra. Also way less touristy/crowded than the other viewpoints. It's a bit of a climb but very much worth the walk.

Where to stay in Granada

Granada is built in a valley looking up to the majestic Alhambra, and most visitors choose to stay where the view can be admired. Plaza Nueva, just down the hill from the Alhambra entry gates, constitutes the touristic center of the city. Many of the famous free-tapas bars and lively restaurants line this famous plaza, as well as a number of small hotels and apartment rentals. Found directly behind the plaza are the city's two historical old Moorish quarters, Albayzín and El Sacramonte, which are characterized by their narrow winding streets and picturesque whitewashed buildings. Here you'll find a number of charming hotels with hillside views of the Alhambra and city center.
