Casa-Museo de Manuel de Falla, Granada

4.4
#7 of 19 in Museums in Granada
Dedicated to preserving the memory of one of Spain's most important composers, Casa-Museo de Manuel de Falla remains much as the celebrated artist left it in 1939. While living in Granada, Manuel de Falla began work on a large-scale musical composition inspired by the mythological Atlantis, often cited as his finest achievement. The whitewashed house still contains the artist's original furniture, piano, manuscripts, and countless small mementos. Walk into the rose garden, where you can find the exact spot where the composer often stood and enjoyed the view. Check online for hours and guided tours. Put Casa-Museo de Manuel de Falla into our Granada trip itinerary maker and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

The truth is that it has been, I think, the third visit I make to the Carmen de la Antequeruela. This has been special. The previous, say, were more about commitment: as if there is will. On this occasion the visit has been preceded by a historic RAID on the relationship between Falla and Lorca. And you can imagine what that Carmen is knitted and created. And one learns that there was a genuine artistic universe, with the friendship between Falla, Lorca, Hermenegildo Lanz, Zuloaga, Ángel Barrios, etc. And one, to visit that Carmen, part of that story is felt, for a moment.

We had a very personal guide around the house. The lady spoke good English and obviously loved Señor de Falla and knew many personal details of his life which she shared passionately.  more »

  • very good
  • Beautiful and informative little museum
  • Void. They have given us is up to 5 in the afternoon. They are the 15.45. We have got this far after eating under a Sun of Justice. There is no one. Llamamos door and the phone. There is no answer. Unpresentable. So goes the country. They live off tourism and thus treat us.

Where to stay in Granada

Granada is built in a valley looking up to the majestic Alhambra, and most visitors choose to stay where the view can be admired. Plaza Nueva, just down the hill from the Alhambra entry gates, constitutes the touristic center of the city. Many of the famous free-tapas bars and lively restaurants line this famous plaza, as well as a number of small hotels and apartment rentals. Found directly behind the plaza are the city's two historical old Moorish quarters, Albayzín and El Sacramonte, which are characterized by their narrow winding streets and picturesque whitewashed buildings. Here you'll find a number of charming hotels with hillside views of the Alhambra and city center.
