Basílica de San Juan de Dios, Granada
(4.5/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Basílica de San Juan de Dios is the spiritual center of the St John of God order, and an ideal example of the Granada Baroque architectural style. Walk around the church to see the towers and facade before entering to view the ornately decorated interior. As you explore, you will see elaborately decorated domes and chapels, with walls covered in artwork, inlaid mirrors, and a wealth of gilded furnishings. Make your way to the sacristy and see a museum-like collection of 62 frames and mirrors, or climb up to the dressing room to a gallery of art pieces. Wander into the post-chapel and see precious objects that have survived the numerous lootings that the church has undergone, then view the gold adornments of the Camarín reliquary. If you prefer a more religious experience, Sunday masses are still held. Using our world travel planner, Granada attractions like Basílica de San Juan de Dios can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Entrance fee is 4 euros and children under 12 years do not pay, you are given a headset where everyone can hear the explanation in your own language. The surprise comes walked in the front door you remain stunned by its beauty and magnificence, where the color gold is the master. Climbing the stairs to the first floor are the remains of Saint John. If you go to Granada dont miss it. Recommended

  • One of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Perfectly cared, I would highlight the main altar, altarpiece, some chapels, images. It serves spiritual and physical rest after several hours of sightseeing.

  • It's been a pleasure going to Granada, follow and know the steps of San Juan de Dios. The story of his life and his great work without reservation. I have enjoyed greatly admiring his wonderful Basilica! It is spectacular!
