Jewish Quarter, Girona

(4.8/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Wander through the narrow medieval streets in Jewish Quarter, one of the largest and best-preserved Jewish quarters in the world. Situated next to the Cathedral, it's made up of a network of winding passageways converging on Calle de la Força, the quarter's main street and Girona's trade center back in the times of the Romans. Winding your way through the labyrinthine streets and up and down narrow staircases, you'll be transported to a time long before the dawn of the automobile. Stop into some of the tiny shops that open off the passages, where you can find Spanish pottery and other artisan gift items. Visit the Museum of Jewish History to see, among other artifacts, a collection of medieval tombstones from Montjuïc, the Jewish cemetery located on the north side of the old city. Put Jewish Quarter into our Girona vacation builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We arrived in Gerona late in the evening, settled in a hotel near the Cathedral and went for a walk for the first time after midnight-narrow medieval streets, stone bridge, the ancient University, the Bell above the medieval village of hibernation ... Definitely will go again

  • An interesting site, especially to understand the mentality of the Jews who entered on the right side, but out of another building on the left. A small museum, courtyard and streets.
