  • It is a nice small church. Most of the time it is neglected by the visitors to Girona. It is just on the way to the Cathedral and most of the time people by it without visiting this nice small church.  more »
  • On this beautiful gothic church of Saint Philip is written here a lot. So I am more interested in the life of the patron saint of Girona St. Narkisa (Narcissus). He was Bishop and, together with the deacon Felix was martyred in 4 century. Narkis was born in Girona and, becoming a preacher, vigour for the Gentiles. In times of persecution he fled to Augsburg, where he drew in Christianity Afrah (now Holy patroness of Augsburg) and other HARLOTS. Upon his return to hometown Narkis became Bishop, and then was crucified together with Deacon Felix and other Christians on the very spot where now stands the Church of Sant Feliu. Holy Narkisu is credited with several miracles, but especially aware of the so-called "miracle with flies." In the year 1285 of Girona was besieged by the troops of Philip II the bold. They entered the city, killed people, burned and looted houses and temples. Infiltrating the Church of Sant Feliu, they tried to desecrate the gravestone of St. Narkisa. But from the Tomb took off clouds of noxious flies that attacked French soldiers and their horses. Breakfast was very plain people and animals died in terrible agony. The invaders had to flee, and the city was saved. After this episode, the residents of Girona have been particularly revere the Holy Narkisa. To the same period belongs the Foundation of the brotherhood of St. Narkisa. Miracle happened and during the subsequent siege of Girona French troops: in 1653 and 1808. Flies are the most common and recognizable iconographic attribute of St. Narkisa and one of the symbols of the city. The feast of St. marks in Girona on October 29. It is believed that these days the flies especially nazojlivy and harmful, but then disappear until the next year. In the Church of Sant Feliu is Chapel of St. Narkisa with the Gothic tomb of 14 century, in which the remains of the Saint were kept before 1782 the year (before the construction of the current Chapel), as well as cancer, where the relics were until 1936 year. A mandatory place to visit in Girona.
