Arab Baths, Girona
Categories: Arab Baths, Spas & Wellness
Dating back to 1194, Arab Baths is a Romanesque building imitating the Muslim baths popular at the time. Situated in a wild garden crowned by spiky palms, the baths are a cool oasis with a changing room, octagonal pool, steam bath, and cold and warm rooms. Among the stately columns, ornate scrolls, and rustic stone walls, you'll be transported back the to the 12th century, when townspeople came here to escape the sun and have a leisurely soak. Don't forget to ascend the spiral staircase, which offers a great view of the surrounding area. Very well restored and worth the short, self-guided visit for 2 Euros. Was not built during the Moorish occupation, but rather early medieval times by Catholics.
