Arab Baths, Girona

(3.5/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Dating back to 1194, Arab Baths is a Romanesque building imitating the Muslim baths popular at the time. Situated in a wild garden crowned by spiky palms, the baths are a cool oasis with a changing room, octagonal pool, steam bath, and cold and warm rooms. Among the stately columns, ornate scrolls, and rustic stone walls, you'll be transported back the to the 12th century, when townspeople came here to escape the sun and have a leisurely soak. Don't forget to ascend the spiral staircase, which offers a great view of the surrounding area. • Visit interesting, the brochure provided at the entrance is useful to understand a little better the story. Visit that costs two euros but worth it

  • 'Banys arabs' means 'arab bath'...is the preserved remnants from the ancient era...you might have to pay a small fee to enter but worth watching if you are into architecture and history....
  • Very well restored and worth the short, self-guided visit for 2 Euros. Was not built during the Moorish occupation, but rather early medieval times by Catholics.
  • Beautiful Moorish-style building, built in the 12th century, during the Arab presence in the city of Girona. The bathrooms were rebuilt a century later, following the Christian conquest that caused the destruction and the destruction of several buildings.
