  • The chapel was erected in the 15th century and there could possibly be a previous Paleochristian Temple. It has a single nave with barrel vault and has a perhaps later belfry and some adjoining buildings, Moorish farmhouse type, perhaps due to being a place of pilgrimage, since it also has a source where visitors tend to leave coins and fill his water containers to carry. But what really stands out in its interior is the collection of the seventeenth or eighteenth century frescoes that decorate their walls with scenes from Genesis of anonymous authors that could come from the nearby Llerena. There are also other frescoes of secular nature that make reference to the seasons of the year. The dressing room is accessed through the sacristy also interesting. The figure of the Moorish King Jayon and his daughter the Princess Erminda is curious in the altarpiece. It is worth visiting this place at the same time, on the same route, it is complemented by the nearby mine of Jayona

  • Discover this shrine, in one of the more beautiful of the Sierra, has been a wonderful thing, it's amazing that if you're not in Extremadura you won't ever know of its existence, the paintings of its interior, the courtyard with its fountain, natural space where it is located, is absolute obligation to visit it you're Catholic or not. In addition the kindness and wisdom with which the Guide welcomes you deserves to be punctuated with excellent. If someday you passing by, deviate, and visit it, you will not regret

  • Very interesting. It is ideal to do the tour. Confirms the great cultural and historical heritage of Spain. We should promote it more.

  • I put 4 stars because the visit is super strict with schedules. You do not spend five minutes that you not enter. Incomparable setting of the Southern Highlands. Fresh worthy of your visit.

  • All truth as the Sistine Chapel of Extremadura hurt the few indications to reach the place. Inflexible schedule... even for Italians who come from far. Intentare again... I hope that if.

  • Its frescoes have given rise to that you call it the Sistine of Extremadura. A jewel of the Sierra of Jayona in the Sierra Morena. Visit guided and free. It is worth visiting it. Information at www.fuentedelarco.org

  • The frescoes are wonderful for your eyes and your contemplation is worthy of admiration, for something called it the Extremadura Sistine Chapel. This year this shrine is holy place on the occasion of the year of the mercy.
