Cap de Formentor, Formentor

4.5
With a view of cliffs that inspire awe and caution, Cap de Formentor is an epic drive. Look for a cave that opens to the sea about 8 m (26.2 ft) above the water. Inside this protected alcove is evidence of the prehistoric Talaiot culture. There are a handful of other lookout points to visit, the most famous of which is Mirador del Mal Pas. In 1996, a private weather station was built at one of the lookouts to send encoded radio transmissions, which are transmitted all over the world. • We armed with patience to get to cap de formentor, where is located the lighthouse of palma de mallorca. Unfortunately the inside of the Lighthouse is not visible, but there is one beautiful panorama and if you want a drink, they have a bar! The road to get to the Lighthouse is a bit crooked, but it comes with peace of mind, there's a place down the road, very large and structured where you can stop and enjoy a beautiful view. On his return from visit to cap de formentor, I highly recommend staying at the playa de formentor, although not very large, is long and the water has some beautiful colors. Descending from Cap de formentor, on the left you will find the indication for the playa, you will enter a gate that looks like that of a hotel. A 500 meters ahead there is parking that costs €0.05 per minute.

  • Wow this wonderful drive twisty roads and magical views and. Cafeteria at the end and clean Wc's Majestic and breath taking and the guys of the free car park are fab  more »
  • It has a very beautiful view on the steep cliffs and the sea from here. Arrivals should in the early morning because it is a lively destination and the parking lots are rare. You should go with a good car, since the coastal road is very narrow. But the ride is worth finally final.

  • Long wait with a car. Too few parking spots. No need for a cafeteria in the lighthouse. Excellent views. Better enjoyed from sea.
  • A really cool drive with great views, but the roads can be narrow and you have to lookout for all of the bikers. Had to wait about 40 minutes just to be able to park my car. Glad I did it though
  • Lighthouse with dramatic views. Well worth visiting, as much for the excitement of the journey along perilous mountain roads, as for the eventual incredible view. Come early to dodge the queues of cars. Cafe is pretty good.
  • For me this was one of the most beautyful sceneries of the island! The only downsize of it was the Road to the lighthouse. It was incredibly busy ( and sometimes very narrow with the car). Definitely a must see!
  • Nice place to spot Menorca from Mallorca. It can get very crowded (and thus it loses its charm) in summertime.
